Okay so who do you, personally, think makes the best engines ever in both the naturally aspirated and turbocharged categories? And try not to compare a completely modified worked over t51R nos etc. 2jzgte to a completely stock d15y8. K? and no flames if you can help it.

Oh personally I think Honda makes the best engineered engines (yeah i know pick up a magazine other than import ricer) anyway being the biggest engine manufacturer in the world and making some of the absolutely best f1 and STOCK street naturally aspirated engines in the world. Also I think that Nissan makes very good turbocharged motors (read RB26DETT) and Toyota isn't far behind.

yeah the BMW M3 strait six is one of the sexiest N/A motors ever. As far as turbo motors my vote goes for either the 2JZ or RB26, both have incredible engineering put into them.

Think highclass, not low budget

Lessthanjakejohn: i have no idea what you mean by hondas falling apart and can we have alil more on the nissan "no" and no toyotas current engines seem to suck but the engine market in general has seemed to gone downhill lately on the japanes side of the pacific and yes ferrari does make vvvery good engines however i forgot about them when i was making the post i really like the twin turbo f40 v8 but it was too"finiky" or whatnot anyway bmw is making very good engines lately but i do think that porsche makes better turbos than audi and i can't think of any audi that has a supercharger but i don't know much about them

I think the Europeans have it hands down, think Audi/VW, Turbo 4, V6, (RS^), W8, V8, W12, etc.

Of course this does make a good argument for GM

a turbocharger is a supercharger

Porsche makes the sports cars, Audi makes the sports sedans. Extremely Fast for a mass-production car

Toyotas maybe they don't suck, but they aren't exciting at all.

Hondas aren't currently falling apart, I am just wondering how much miles they are going to get out of the new cars coming out.Honda is sort of the ultimate economy car engine. Nothing extremely highperformance.

In what regard? They are making a ton of HP from them. Although I don't follow BMW at all.

Best engines?

Turbo: EJ207N/A: Chevy 305

I use to beat the piss out of my 5 liter Carpice and it kept asking if I had more. That was an insane motor. Ran in in the summer with low radiator fluid and it worked just fine. Bullet proof!

That 5w-20 oil will be the death of any engine it goes in, imo it will mean the difference in lasting 100,000 miles and lasting 200,000...ESPECIALLY considering the way people are about changing oil. Honda, and several other car manufacturers are dumb as hell to specify that grade oil in their American engines. BMW makes some very fine NA engines and I think the best turbo motors out there are possibly porsche, or nissan for turbo's that are ultra reliable.

EJ207 is the closed deck JDM engine for the STi and the WRX. Apparently they run 26lbs of boost on that engine in the WRC car. The EJ205 is the semi closed "world motor" that is in the WRX now.

305?! whatcho smokin cold? it's all about the 350, most of them had better heads from the factory. But I'd have to rate the small block chevy as one of the best engines ever, dawg it all you want but it's probably the cheapest engine in the world to build and get some serious power.

I'd have to agree with Honda as far as well built motors go, they are indeed probably the best in the world right now, and a lot of pros will vouch for them.

the old VW 1600 was also a killer engine as well as most porche motors

hell yeah, the V-dub motors from the good old days. one of the few motors that you can turn from 1600cc to 2100cc with little work. and they didnt take much to repair. as far as duarble goes, the 350 has to be one of the best motors ever made. those beasts take a beating or three and keep on running. the best n/a motors are ferraris. hands down they made and still make osme of the best sounding smoothest revving engines. nothing like the sound of a GTB quad cam v12.

the pontiac turbo 301(I think, it was 30something...) was a cool motor too, it's funky and very low tech looking as well.

the 426 hemi. you could take a stock motor, switch the cam to a mild one, do a slight over bore, along with the cross flow dual carb manifold and make over 700hp/ gotta love 13.5:1 compression on n/a cars.

mmm, gotta love that 600hp motor in the oldsting rays. space-age technology in a lightweight, pretty well handling car.

For turbo motors, I'll hafta go with the rb30det (even though its not a production motor, but a fusion of 2.) N/A I'd have to go with the 26b rotary from the mazdaspeed 787b or a flat-12 ferrari engine
