I use Meguiar's Gold Class wax most of the time. Every 3-4 months I like to use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. It takes some of the crap out out of the clear coat or something. After I wipe that off, I do a Gold Class wax right after. As far as car wash to use, I just go to the self-serve car wash stalls. Takes about 2-3 bucks each time (usually twice a week). If I am gonna scrub it at home, I use the Son of a Gun car wash concentrate. Whatever you do though, don't use dish soap or something like that. It isn't good for the paint/clear coat.

i use meguiars gold class wax (about every 3 or 4 months is what i shoot for) and meguiars soap (which i'm out of, dangit). it seems like my wax doesn't stay on that long either. or it doesn't stay very slick very long if i wash it regularly. since the last time i waxed her (about a month) i haven't had to wash the whole thing except the front end from stupid bugs. i dont drive it everyday or anything, and she sits in the garage all day long covered up, so that helps out w/ staying clean. i need to repaint my car anyway, but i still want her clean all the time : ) nah the paint isn't that bad, just spots here and there. it looks like it has been repainted before, and it wasn't that good of a job at all:mad:

Liquid wax is the best stuff I've used. Give it a couple coats then all you have to do to keep it clean is get a california car duster and wipe all the dirt off. Only problem is its expensive $18.

The absolute best paint protection you can get is from a company in NJ called Zaino Brothers. Check out their site : Zainobros.com . Alot of guys in the show car circuit swear by it also. I have used it on all my cars and OMG, it makes paint look 10 layers deep. It really works great on darker colors. It does require several steps plus clay barring your car before you start, but the results are well worth it. You can't buy it in stores, but when I send for their products, I usually get it within a week (I'm in Florida). Also, it is a little pricey, but again well worth it. It comes out to be around $25.00 an application and an application is good for around 9 months.

What do you mean by "clay bar" your car? I was in autobody for two years back in highschool and never heard of this.

i've used meguiar's 3 step...cleaner, polish, wax 3 separate bottles. which i was really impressed with. the cleaner works well if your looking for using clay to take off water spots or oxidation. i've used the gold class also and it is very nice also.

The Zaino is not really complcated after you use the stuff. If you use their polishes, the dry time is kinda long, but they have an accelerator additive which cuts the drying time to 20 minutes. The beauty of Zaino is that it goes on real easy and wipes off easy, with no wax residue at all. You can put as many coats as you want with no buildup and the more you put on the deeper the shine gets.

Clay bars remove all the microscopic dirt particles that washing doesn't remove. If you do not clay bar the car, all the dirt gets trapped underneith, reducing the reflective properties of the paint. No matter what wax or protectant you use, you should clay bar it first. It involves taking the clay bar and soapy water and rubbing it over your paint. It removes no paint, the soft bar just picks up the fine particulates.

I searched for the answer to this question for quite a while. 4 years in fact. After trying several products (most of them mentioned in this post) I came across Zaino Brothers. It is by far the best product out there. The work it takes depends on the size of your vehicle. I first applied it onto my 4-door F-150. God that took forever. As for my 240, it's a breeze.

BTW, Zaino Bro. is quickly taking over the show car industry. There will always be hard core Meguair's people out there, but that's their loss.

i stick with mequirs too.I hand wash with their 00 spf car washUse their Gold Class wax..high spfAfter touching up and detailing I use Meguiars Final Inspection with like 13 or something spf.I have noticed lately that the wax doesn't seem to stay on for more then 2 and a half weeks. Especially on the trunk, probably a lot a wind blowing on it. The Final Inspection gives good glossy finish, even better then the wax. Helps get rid of all the extra residue or something. It doubles as a great bird **** remover. I keep it with me at all times. During autumn is important to because those darn tree leaves will stain if you don't wipe it down good.I'm up for trying other things, but there's a Meguiars store about 15 minutes away from me and they've always been really nice guys. I would like to try that Zaino's stuff, but I'm not taking a weeks vacation just to wax my car.

Mayhem, Ha, ha, it doesn't take that much longer with Zaino, especially if you use their accelerator, 20 minutes and a very easy wipe off. If you can spend the time, additional coats makes the shine deeper. I Zaino'ed my I-30 last March and except for an occasional application of the gloss enhancer spray, it still beads up like I just waxed it and thats after a summer of Florida sun and rain.

Hi All,

I just started advertising our product on Nico. Since you were all talking about waxes etc I figured I'd chime in.

The product we make "5 star shine" (see our ad on the bottom left side) provides the best long term protection that can be applied to a car finish.

The US Navy uses it to protect the paint on their Aegis Radar systems on their destroyers, yet it is also approved by Rolls-Royce Intl. for those of you who might think that it is thick and heavy.

I have had 5 Star Shine on my car for many months now and all that I do is wash my car with water and a mitt. Dirt comes off like a dry erase board. The water beads up incredibly and the paint keeps its original shine. 5 Star shine creates a great foundation and or protection to your paint so you don't have to wax if you don't want to.

Check out our website http://www.5starshine.com and see all of the specifics including our unique U.S. Patent and make your own decision. There you'll find many testimonies of people who have used 5 Star on their cars, boats, planes, motorcycles etc.

We'll give you your money back if 5 Star Shine doesn't live up to the high expectations we set. Take a look at 5 Star Shine. Thank you to Nico members for the opportunity to earn your business.

This stuff works wonders. My friend used it on his ranger, and it made his paint look brand new. His paint look like *** to begin with, ****load of scratches and whatnot

Zaino is, hand-down, the best. Period. Mayhem, I did my car in a day, from start to finish (washing, claybar, re-washing, applying, removing).

However, I've not tried chad's product, it sounds like the same technology, I'm sure it's awesome.

BTW, WAXES are NOT the best way to protect your paint. It's NOT optically clear, wears off fast, and builds up to dull your finish.

I personally use Meguiars Gold class wash, then while the car's still wet, I use a bar to take off the embedded particles in the paint (I personally don't like the Mother's brand clay bar) that my buddy who works at a shop called Autofreak in San Francisco's Japan Town recommended. Then I use Meguiars Showcar Glaze, then follow it up with the Gold Class wax (the hi tech yellow wax wasn't as reflective) and then a bit of buffing. I don't wax unless I need it, check the water on your car after you wash it. If it beads up and runs off, you don't really need wax until the beading isnt so good anymore.

no look at pix these holy moly!!!! these pix made up my mind unless chad can top this. i mean wow. cuz i was like whoa. the only thing is doing the formula for applying this stuff on the car is insane well on the site anyways.

z-2 then z-5 used with wash that's ph balanced for her but not for him is equal to the square root of z-7 to the z-3 monomial polygon function of a standard deviation when added to the mean unlesss divided dy the mode in less than 36 hours if its exactly 3 degrees kelvin or above 60 degrees farenheit or below 70 degrees celcius.

well maybe not that but close to it. hey its late brain stops functioning jumbls tings up fil in blancs wit ouwn inf0 at this point. can someone explain in simpler jiberish???

also do you use an orbital polishing buffer thats it a buffer in any part of the application??? i mean is it better you do it that way or what? the resaon i am intreested in this thread is the fact that i am getting a custom paint job {{{saphirre blue like the jaguar xk8 2002 with chrome flakes in it}}} and i want it to look flawless i dont think the way my car looks is ideal to even put any wax on it. oh well i think i sholuld start a count down till it goes to the body shop.peace
