Most Z32 guys use Mobil 1 Synthetic or Royal Purple, and only the Nissan filter.

Mobil 1 Synthetic or Royal Purple synthetic if you feel safe with Synthetic.

For filter, mobil 1 or the Nissan one. DON't go with Fram filters.

Bump.

Anyway, what viscosity do you guys reccomend? My naturally aspirated slicktop has 141k miles and was treated well. I drive in in temperature conditions ranging from 60F to 100F. My car is driven maybe 3 or 4 times a week (not too often).

I was thinking maybe 15w-30, but is that overkill?

nothing wrong with fram filter since your oil is going to be changed every 3000 miles anyway.

just change it every oil change rather than every other oil change for the nissan filter.

15-30 is a bit thicker but should be fine.

First of all justy i am by no means trying to rain on your parade or crap in your cheerios but these have been my experiences with Amsoil.

If you value your car DO NOT USE AMSOIL!!! its trash absolute overpriced trash, I have seen more cars then I can count be destroyed because of amsoil. and before anyone starts flaming--> 1) My buddy worked for a reputable Audi/VW shop, they had 5 count em 5 brand new jettas come in all with scorched cams all under 20k miles, all running amsoil changed by the dealer at regular maintance intervals. 2) I have been a member of NAISOC for a while and if you guys dont know, 98% of subaru guys are meticulous with their cars and every single person i have heard of running amsoil has had some kind of problems resulting from amsoil. If you have a bunch of money to waste there are labs that will analyze your used oil and recommend oils that have a better mix of ingredients. If your really interested try these guys out, this is one of many labs http://www.oillab.com/

A good synthetic oil ( I use Mobil 1) is far better than cheap oil when it's under the pressure of heat.HAving said that a less expensive oil would be ok if it's changed often enough, but then it's no cheaper. From the research done by some knowledgeable Z people the Nissan filter is the best suited one for particulate filtration in a screw on type for this engine. Considering it's about $4.00 more than the cheapest filter you can buy, it's a no brainer which one to get.

i like to tell people that any castrol or q-state and a fram filter is good for most cars but i guess im a hypocrite -- i use nothing but mobil1 and nissan / honda / k&n filters for my Z32TT, sr20 240 (when it was still alive), RC51 and nsx. Ok maybe a partial hypocrite. only the cheapest on sale oil + fram filter for my accord.

mobil 1 synthetic or my personal preference royal purple with and oil filter EXCEPT FRAM!

has anyone ever cut opan a fram oil filter? not what youd expect for 6 buck! old recycled carboard and one i opened had a clear "coca-cola" printed on part of the inside! 6 bucks for just some recycled s***!

btw this is no overexageration

so question, i heard that synthetic oils cause some type of leakage. is that true? if so then why use synthetic over standard oil?
