Synthetic oil particles are smaller and may leak, but only through bad seals, to back this up here is one of many.

Oh and if your oil is causing the seals to expand or contract then you got crappy seals because that means the oil is penetrating into the rubber, which it should never do anyway.

Take a look at the second link

If you value your car DO NOT USE AMSOIL!!! its trash absolute overpriced trash, I have seen more cars then I can count be destroyed because of amsoil. and before anyone starts flaming--> 1) My buddy worked for a reputable Audi/VW shop, they had 5 count em 5 brand new jettas come in all with scorched cams all under 20k miles, all running amsoil changed by the dealer at regular maintance intervals. 2) I have been a member of NAISOC for a while and if you guys dont know, 98% of subaru guys are meticulous with their cars and every single person i have heard of running amsoil has had some kind of problems resulting from amsoil. If you have a bunch of money to waste there are labs that will analyze your used oil and recommend oils that have a better mix of ingredients. If your really interested try these guys out, this is one of many labs http://www.oillab.com/
Sorry for the bump but has anyone tried oillab.com? Just curious

Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W-30. I'd use a Nissan filter if I could but I can't. Doesn't make sense, I know. Here: I have a J30 VG30DE with Z32 VG30DE manifolds. Oil filter on J30 VG mounts directly to block, while Z32 VG doesn't. I don't have any sort of bracket. Why is it a J30 motor? Who knows. Getting a VG30DETT soon anyway. Sick of this NA horses***.

mobil syn and nissan filter .i put about 3-5k a year and i change it every spring because she sits for 4 months or so, even though i do start and let her idle for 10 minutes twice a week while she hibrynates ,i still give her fresh blood right before her first big run of the year i also use some kind of fuel stableizer at the end of season and shes parked on a rug in a heated garage (spoiled biatch)

Hey guys I have a small ticking sound, I only hear it when Im parking close to a wall. So is it a lifter tick? Should I use thicker oil? Right now Im using 10w-30 and its 178k miles on the engine.

Oh and my previous question also, has anyone tried OilLab.com?

Thanks.

Could be lifter tick try seafoam works great and a thicker oil should do the trick unless you just low and your lifters are deprived of oil

Ok, I just bought a 1995 300zx 2+2 about a month ago, and the dealer said to use 1/2 synthethic and 1/2 standard oil because it has high mileage (168k). Does that seem right to you?

yeah split it up use one third in the gas, one third in the oil let run through for a few days, and divide the last third in half for the throttle bodies -for the throttle bodies use the hose right below the tb's and put into seafoam and rev til it sucks it all up and prepare for smoke out of exhause

Thanks but I read that driving with seafoam in the oil is not good because it thins out the oil and a lot say its ok, so I dont know

And does anyone perhaps have a pic of the hose I put seafoam in? I never done this before obviously.

After I got my Z I tried royal purple, and didn't seem to like it too much (dirty engine) then I changed to delo 5w40 full syn, used that over the winter to clean it out, then this last time I used the motor medic engine flush, and now I'm using castrol edge with a mobile1 Filter, loves it's, personally I tend to stay away form mobile 1 oil as I work at a dealership and have seen some cars that come in and when I pop the cap, it's nothing but peanut butter down the fill tube and underside of the cap.

Best plug is always factory, NGK platinum or double plats. Don't use iridiums

My Z has used nothing but old fashioned Valvoline 10w30 and Nissan filter for the past 20 years.

I have been using the 15000 mile oil . Mobil 1 Extended Protection which is different from the Mobil 1. With the Mobil 1 Extended Protection filter which is also good for 15,000 miles also. Walmart has low prices on the oil in 5 quart container.makes the engine run very smooth in the Infiniti and the z32.
