I know that it seems like "SA" rated helmets are becoming the standard out here in California. If those aren't required, any type of helmet should be fine I would imagine.

He could also just take the advice (well, some of it) that we give him on NICO.

1. coilovers2. diff...... baller = 2way.... broke @ss = welded3. bucket seat.4. whatever you see fit.

a stiff suspension is mst important. Then a diff. Like i said b4. If you got alot of money, i would go 2-way right away. If your a normal person and dont have $800-$1200 for just a diff, get it welded. Works awsome.

Theres nothing wrong with a hydrolic e-brake. I just wouldnt do it unless you drift alot! The cable e-brake can strech and brake from alot of use. A hydrolic one wont. Other then that the hydro one doesnt do it any different. The way they work is different, but the end result is the same. Plus, in alot of states, a hydrolic ebrake is illegal. If you have a ebrake in your car that doesnt lock that is. I have a hydolic ebrake, but its in my drift car.

I agree with brianhart, theres alot of stupid useless posts in here.

Since I live here in pennslyvaina, I don't know if it is required to have a "SA" rated helmet. Cause I never did actually entered a drift event befor in PA.

I was looking at some full face helmet at http://www.bellhelmet.com and a "SA" rated helmet cost like $259. So I'm guessing that I need a "SA" rated helmet if I wana do some auto-x/road racing in the future.

SA rated helmets are for auto racing.MA are for Motorcycle.

In reality, there will work the same for drifting. I don't even think we need helmets really.

The SA I believe has a nomex layer in it to create a firewall.

why is everyone saying bucket seats? specially if this is his first car....... lots of them are not street legal...... much rather just run the good old DOT legal crap that comes in the car. Maybe S14 seats if I wanted something a bit prettier....

on a basic S13 with no motor upgrades I wouldnt worry about too much more than tires that I was happy to cook. a LSD or welded diff will help, but when you are learning the basics..... expensive parts are just going to get killed anyway.

maybe it is me, but 600+ bucks on coil overs seems a bit silly when you know that there is going to be plenty of wall contact with anyone who is even a little daring. Then again I tend to be even a bit more reckless once I get neato new parts to try

all I would worry about is something that doesnt leak oil everywhere and runs good.

I know I suggest a bucket seat because I actually drift. I have drifted with a stock seat. I have drifted with a bucket seat.

If he wants to drift, he should get a bucket seat.

I had no idea seats fell into legal/illegal catagory. Are you sure about that or are you just guessing.

S13 seats suck d!ck.S14 seats suck d!ck.

I am giving him experience that I've built up over the last 5 years. I don't know where you are coming from.

First mod, LSD.Second, coilovers.Third, bucket seat.
