The Q45 section of NICO is like a once-nice middle class neighborhood that's now full of gang-bangers and stubborn war vets that refuse to move somewhere nicer, no matter how foolish it is to stick around.

Jesda, I think you are right.

This thread is a good example of how out of touch I am with the tone of the Q45 section. This joker busts his oil pan and has his car fall off of a flat bed and forum members (well, only the standrad three) line up to say "I told you so!"

The lack of civility has been placed in especially stark contrast to the welcoming atmosphere of the the Impala SS/ Caprice wagon forum that I'm on lately. My last forum was Fox Body mustangs and the tone was also civil.

I learned in Sociology that the social groups that are the most disgruntled about changing demographics and about social status are the ones that are losing their power and influence-typically old white men in the past several decades in larger society and on apparently on NICO as well.

When someone does something stupid to their car, it's incumbent upon those of us who have BEEN THERE and DONE THAT to say something.

Otherwise, we do a disservice to the very population we're meant to assist.

If the OP had come here looking for advice or assistance, he'd listen when people make recommendations. Instead, he just lips off and calls people names.

Besides, I don't want that poorly-modded POS out on the highway, piloted by some wet-behind-the-ears driver... It's an accident waiting to happen, and it could happen to someone you care about.
The above statement sums it up perfectly.......Well said Greg.

Really, if you want to be an ignorant banger, go to http://www.deadendbangers.com . If you want to be reassured that you're perfect, just need a hug and don't need to learn anything else, go to http://www.dearabby.com .

If you realy want to learn about the G50, FGY33 and F50 by applying yourself and sharing your experiences in well articulated descriptive posts, you are more than welcome here.

Nice link from Q45tech. Wonder which posters above will read it?

Amazing I lowered my Q 1" in 1994 and after 270,000 miles [15 years] of driving it that way my oil pan is still fine.I have a tiny Eibach sticker on the dash to remind me to look at the road ahead.

Having personally dealt with dozens who won't read and study and follow educated advice I have turned hard and have little sympathy for owners who destroy their vehicles.

Failure to study causation

Had a well-written response to some inaccuracies in the last post... Looks like even the person who wrote it realized it was inaccurate, as it's been removed.

Lowering a car properly does not render it any less "safe". However, it has to be done properly, and there's more to it than just springs.

Proper springs, shorter shocks, upper links, lower control arms and a good alignment are a bare minimum for maintaining proper suspension geometry.

Higher load-rating tires have NO correlation to sidewall height. Load rating is a measure of the tire's internal construction and strength. The Q requires a higher load rating tire simply because of its weight and its handling ability.

I drove a relatively modded Q for several years, and never got any flak from the "gurus" here - Primarily because I tried to learn all I could, and I didn't perform modifications that would render the car unsafe - All my mods made it handle, stop, and go much better.

Throwing parts at a car that desperately needs basic maintenance is a recipe for disaster.

I can't help but think that the OP's car hurled itself off the flatbed in a desperate attempt to end its own suffering.

God works in mysterious ways......may have saved owners and innocent fellow motorists lives by removing that unsafe clunker from the road.

I do agree with you Greg. But Berner is my friend and he doesn't deserve to have people talk about him if he is not able to respond.

And I know I have no real authority here but I would appreciate if this topic could at least be locked because what good can from from it?
