Guys,

When you got your coilovers, were the fronts V-04 (04+ G35 AWD) and rears V-01 (06-10 M35/M45)? That's what I have in the box right now and I'm wondering if this is a mistake or if that's right? I'm guessing it's a mistake?

So angry if I have to wait weeks more for my set.

This may be normal for BC Racing as g35/350z parts are compatible with m35's

I would make a phone call just to make sure.

Yeah I already sent an email and the guy responded (gets them on his phone) and will be calling his distributor tomorrow.

Judging from the front strut, it's a mistake. The brake line brackets are different.

The rears may be okay, but we'll see what they say.

In the past I have read that people with M35's using BC had problems with the front coilovers, The adjustment didn't allow to go low enough (not even low enough to have the fender lip even with the top of the tire). So they started ordering the front coilover for the G35

This may be your case :gotme

You are right Freddie.

They don't have a V-11 kit so to speak, so the V-11 kit for the AWD M's is actually a combination of the V-04 fronts and V-01 backs.

I guess I will attempt the install tonight.

Freddie, I can't get number 6 off...no matter what I do. That bottom bolt won't budge. I've already ruined the head on the bolt a bit, might have to cut it off and buy a new one.

Thats one of the problems with Nissan, some of the bolts are on too tight. I would cut it off and buy it new.

Also I don't remember the X but the rear strut has the bottom nut welded to the strut body, you may need to get those too.

Also be carefull with the pinch nut on whats called the camber arm, it shouldn't have any pressure when removing them. I think the dealer wants $12 each.

1 more thing always try to use 6-point sockets as the 12 -points just destroy the bolt head.

I would oil all the bolts and nuts so that when you get to them they might come out easier.

I do installs on the floor (before surgery) with no air tools and my #1 tool is a 6ft pipe

Yeah, I ended up cutting one side and will buy two new ones.

I didn't look at the rears, but I'll have to check before I go to the dealer tomorrow to see what you're talking about.

This is so much work. My Maxima was SOOOOOO much easier to do shocks/struts on.

You may want to call the dealer before you go as most of them don't keep any of these bolts or nuts in stock. :frown:

I have done 5 installs already but I think all of them have been M45's. I think it takes my cuz & I about 4-5hrs if nothing goes wrong.

About 5hrs front & back and that includes adjusting the height too. All done on the ground with no air tools.

You don't need to buy bolts unless something happens but you will need 2 new nuts for the lower rear shock mount bolts on the M35 & M45. I just can't remember the MX's

The rears are so easy on my M45

Yeah I sprayed 3/4ths of a can the day before lol. Nothing. Also tried heat.

I do have the part numbers and will be including them in a later thread for the HowTo (it won't be my usual, very 'top down' HowTo). This suspension stuff isn't for the basic mechanic, you need to have some experience IMO.

and just to give you an idea the going rate around here is about $400 to $500 for the M35 & M45.

I was doing the coilovers with my cuz just for $250 what a deal. :yesnod

I have ONE freakin bolt (the bottom one) for the driver side rear of the shock and I can't get it off. NOTHING is breaking it lose. ONE BOLT left and I'll be done with my suspension and I can't get it to go.

*sigh*

I'm in side eating goluptsi (delicious) and regaining some strength because I don't know what else to do. :gotme :rotflmao

If the strut is the same as the M45 you may have to cut one of the legs off on the lower strut to get the bolt out. I had to do this on my car too. I know what your going thru.

2 or 3 shots of belvedere Vodka should do the trick :spitout: Robert gave me 2 bottles in the past for taking care of him. :wavey: Thanks Robert

What do you mean by cut one of the legs off? You mean the other side (not where I have the air gun)?

If the M35X is somewhat the same as the M35 or M45 than yes we would do the D2 Racing coilovers for $250

"BUT" for now I haven't been doing much as I'm on recovery time because of my surgery. Robert's M45S (from Queens NY) was the last car we did not too long ago as my cuz did most of all the work and I just told him what to do. :rotflmao

He may be getting a garage soon with a lift & air tools

if the bolt won't come out it's because the lower strut legs have pressure on them. Because the strut is no longer good all you have to do is cut 1 leg off at a time.

Okay, I have everything installed but how do I adjust the rear? It's stiff as hell? I got the fronts to about 27.5"...but the back is so low that I can't get off the lift :slap:

I'm not going to go super low...if I don't go real low I assume it'll be fine? :gotme

I gave up.

I will not be doing a HowTo for this (I might still do one for the front and rear stabilizer links which I also changed while I was under the car). After probably 16 total hours (most of which were due to fighting rust/stuck bolts/nuts on the car), I've called it quits.

I have everything installed but I need to get it dialed in and with Freddie's help I got the back end a little bit higher (it was so low, I couldn't get off the lift). I ended up having to jack one side up to get the lift arm out and just called it a day.

I will visit one of the local speed shops and just pay someone to get me at 27"-27.5" at all four corners. Then it can settle to probably 27" and I'll be good. I'm hoping I don't continue to have issues with the lift otherwise I will have to lift one side (the floor is slightely slanted for drainage purposes) of the car every time I want to get on the lift (just to slide the arm under it).

HOLY CRAP THIS CRAP WAS HARD. Stick to springs people...so much easier (I did springs on my Maxima in like 2 hours all four sides).

Sad to hear you couldn't finish tonight, If i was closer to you I would of given you a hand but I just live to far away. Your so close to finishing that it would be a shame to take it to a shop and have them charge you ($$$) for just adjustment of the rear when you did all the hard work.

I would call Ravspec if close to you as I know Mark has them on his black M.

This is one of the reason I tell everyone to go with D2 Racing coilovers, they are true coilovers. They have more adjustments (36 way) and are so much easier to install and more important faster to dail in ride height. I would say most all people that have installed a non-true coilover set up (like BC or Megan) by themself are driving around with the rear adjusted wrong.

I hate to push product on others but I always give my opinion without force, I always try to help as much as I can. I always reply to e-mails, PM's and phone calls as fast as I can too. I like to give facts and not :bs: like some around here do.

And yes Megan Racing exhaust system is the best bang for the buck for our M's, hands down.

And yes you should buy hid kits local to you so that you have some kind of warranty and not have to wait for shipping it out and then wait for it to come back to you.

And yes you should 100% get your Uprev tune done with a Dyno.

And yes the K&N drop-in filter works better than a pop-charger intake that cost +$300

And yes you should replace the same spark plug that your M came with, nothing else.

I can go on and on about what works or how it should work but I hate to see people like Ilyakol have such a hard time because of the product thats not 100% explained or product thats over rated which so many are.

I really hope you have a good night sleep and wake up ready to give it another go at it, never give up when your so close.

As for your lift try 2x4's under your 4 tires when trying to remove the lift arms then you just roll off the 2x4's

Your problem may not be your installation. I just found a few threads that have others upgrade the rear spings from 210 to 230 (taller spring) because the 210's don't raise the car enough. Some have been able to use some spacers to fix the problem.

This is 1 of many threads:

Thanks Freddy. I sent my vendor that link to see if he could get me the spacers or spring.
