I don't know if this has ever been asked but I don't really care...

Is it just me or does anyone else get random cuts on your hands or anywhere else when you are doing the simplest thing? It seems to me like I can't change the oil without atleast a couple broken bones. lol

A few examples:

1. Today I was changing a gasket and after I cleaned up and stuff I noticed a cut on the back of my hand which I didn't even notice...

2. A couple weeks ago when I was pulling the engine to rebuild it, I was taking off a hose and I smashed my hand on some random object and got cut right on the joint.

3. When I was putting the air conditioning compressor back on I was pushing on a wrench and it slipped off and I punched the steel in front of it and cut myself down to the bone on my middle finger.....

So what about you guys?

Yea **** happens a lot, like when you realize you have the cut when it starts to sting when you're washing your hands.

If you gotta use gloves, by all mean go ahead. Getting cuts, bruises, and a hole through your foot are all common injuries. There shoulda been a warning label on the car's pink slip huh?

There seems to be a little scar or injury for even the simplest jobs like putting away the air compressor! The same can be said about car battle scars? Seems like there are many little dings and dents on my car that has a rich history.

My palm has been bruised for 2 weeks from pushing valve springs down with a socket. It went from dark purple, to a little bit of green, now it's yellow. It's awesome.

I've had to get stitches before from when a wrench slipped and i punched a freshly decked crankcase. Man was that thing sharp.

I've gotten expected cuts. One would be when I was removing a harness from my integra. This one plug was stuck to the other plug was being stupid and it didn't allow for my reach and when I pulled off the stupid plug my hand just swung straight into this metal edge behind the dash. I knew it was coming while I was doing it but meh what are you gonna do about it rite?

my fav time was when i just got outta the dentist (rootcanal/post and crown on other side.) and i was F'd up the meds they gave me (not by choice) friend picked me up, and went to his house to work on his 240. in the process of swapping in his rb, (im under the car getting the transmission lined up with the holes for the Xmember. and i said STOP you leaking oil everywhere!!!... Mind you im still a little . So he ignores me, and i forgot quick... 30 minutes later i get out from under the car, i got the transmission all bolted in and everything. So i get out, stand up (by now im just about getting to normal) anyways i go to grab a rag to get the "oil" off my arm. and the WHOLE thing is red. blood everywhere... apprently i cut my arm right near my elbow when the transmission was being put in. still dont know how i did it, but i needed 7 stiches and didnt feel a thing, thanks to my dentist.

moral of story: meds and cars DONT go together.

Enough rambling with that, but to OP, i get them ALLLLL the time its redic. like the other day, i flushed my coolent, and then in the process of filling it i opened the cap to the rad, and cut my finger. wtf!.

while removing my last bolt at 12 o'clock on my 240 my hands looked like hamburger meat lol

if you dont have cuts, scrapes, burns, etc from working on a car....then u shouldnt be working on a car. if you cry when you get cuts and such from working on cars. quit working on cars....if you STOP working to get a bandaid......dont even bother continue working.....

stick some grease in that cut and continue working......ahhaahhaahah

Gloves.....eh who needs gloves.....most of those mechanic gloves SUCK, i havent had a pair that last longer then a week or so...plus they are too limiting.....and rubber gloves suck b/c they usually tear and end up being a waste of money....

That pretty much sums it up except when I punched the metal in front of the ac compressor the cut was two the bone and I had just started working in the morning so I had did not have time to go get stitches so I made strip things to hold it together. It healed pretty well though.

I am a mechanic by profession. I make a living cutting up my hands, then spilling dangerous chemicals on them. I have scars like crazy. I try to wear gloves, but they rip a lot.

Yeah, gloves are good, keep my hands warm in the winter too. Just gotta take them off in tight spots where I would need to spin a bolt by my fingers

I got a cut one time and then got a genius idea to grab some chips and someone must have coated the inside with salt because that hurt like a b****.

Blood sweat and tears! I have a SS power steering hose and every time I reach in that area It stabs or cuts my hand or arm. Then I say to my self "Fv<k! I need to change to a rubber hose" ! I remember doing it last week and 6 hours ago. I think the more I work on my car, the less my car Fv<ks me up!

Holy crap yes... Two days ago I had to change my knock sensor. That was fun.
