Ive been running a miata battery (small) for over 2 years and I have never had any problems with it, there is not enough room to fit a normal sized battery in the engine bay due to intercooler piping, unless you are running a sidmount. if you want a bigger battery you will have to put it in the trunk

its like a 120 dollar mod but it is well worth it to have that bigger battery and also with the battery in the trunk it give you a littl emore wieght distribution

If you put your battery in the hatch area, make sure you go with a sealed battery (like an optima) or you risk breathing in potentially dangerous gases.

I've been using the Miata batteries in that location for years. I just picked up the Westco Miata battery. Here is how they look:

I used an oddysey battery for a while and it sucked. After the car would sit for a while i would have to use jumpers to start her up. the battery was just way to small. So i slammed the bastard in the back (right side) with cover and all. Now i dont have any worries on the situation, plus it frees up room in your engine bay, making it look a tad clearer.

I have had my miata battery for 2 plus years, the only time I had a problem was when I left my e-fans on at work and they sucked it dry, I drove my car in MN winter this year and she would start right up even in 20 below weather, Ive left it sit for 2 plus weeks and it still starts fine. I got my battery from the local batteries plus for like $70 and its identicle to the one in the pic

sounds like you had a draw on the battery or a faulty battery

I have the battery relocated to the trunk. I am running sound system, just two amps, woofers and speakers. Do you think the miata battery will hold it? Of course, i only turn them on when the car is running.

Which optima battery fit in with your intercooler piping? I would definitely replace the westco. Please let me know.
