As a scale, good rust would be light surface rust with little pitting. Bad would be completely rusted through. To compound the scale, it's ok it it's on a part that can easily be replaced. For example a door or deck lid. Inner wheel wells, rockers, floorboards and so forth are a pain in the *** to fix.

All rust is "Bad". it means the metal has been exposed to the eliments ans chemical changes have taken place.

What you are really asking is what is repairable rust damage and what is not. If it is on a non-critical part or easily replaced part then it is not a major concern as long as you are willing to replace/repair.

Major rust on the frame or suspension etc shoud be avoided like the plague because thatis what it is, a plague.

There are people that will repair rust on the frame etc. Most won't. It all comes down to how much effort you are willing to put in to correct the damage.

He denoted that he knows that, his question is best read as; "I'm not going to find a car without rust, so what kind of rust is easiest to repair."

My bad. I ask forgivness

If it is to the point of leaving pits in the metal when the rust is removed then it is a job best done by an experianced person. If the rust has created holes compoleatly through the metal then move on to the next car UNLESS it is on a replaceable part such as a front fender etc.

I hope that is a better answer.

IMO any rust can be fixed within reason like stated above it has to do with how much time and effort you want to put into it I mean some things are just a lost cause and your better off finding something else but I enjoy a good project best of luck to you both
