Haven't ever been a fan of SPEC, though this just seems like usual wear.

Why did you choose a pucked disc?

Fanta, that is just the one that came with it. They didn't give me and option.

It's hard to see, but there are cracks in the flywheels surface, and it has also scored it.

=/Heat stress. Machining may rid the flywheel of them.

great..... I just installed my Stage 3 today too.

God I hope I don't have to replace it any time soon. It was a ***** enough getting the transmission back on the engine while it was out of the car. I couldn't imagine doing it with it still IN the car.

You really have no choice though. I have never liked spec either but what are you gonna do? Either you shell out some massive dollars for one of the few clutches made to fit the CA or you get a spec one and take your chances.

I didn't pull mine because I was having problems with it. I'm replacing the rings and noticed it when I pullled the flywheel off to mount the motor to the engine stand. It's only been in the car for 8 months and has MAYBE 10K miles on it. I followed the breakin period and if you notice, the pressure plate has a broken retainer clip, which I think may have been what caused this. I'm going to call them tommorrow and see what I can get done.

Yeah i remember hearing about people having problems with the spec clutches if they wernt torqued down enough. Ill have to find the image station pictures but one guy on a ka-t i think, shredded his plate and it sliced the transmission clear in half and i think it cut through his floor board a bit. Pretty nasty stuff which is why i gave mine hella torque and made sure i did it right.

I come from a backround of muscle cars, and to me, its all just part of the game. I've had 4 clutches flyapart on me. First 2 werent bad, but 3rd one blew through my bell housing and through my floor doing a 3500 rpm drop. Forth one would have probably taken my leg off, but had just put in a lakewood blowproof bellhousing. Anyways, sounds to me like you have been gettin it way too hot. Listen from some experience, stock components mixed with high performance ones( stock flywheels) dont mix. Everytime I've lost a clutch, its been from getting it too hot(which causes massive warping eventually) and then dumping it just a little bit too hard. Any type of "race" clutch is going to produce heat, this in turn begins to make a damn cereal bowl out of your flywheel. Thats when components break. BTW, I'm waiting for my flywheel to get back from the machine shop, and I have a stage 3 spec for it. The flywheels getting resurfaced, rebalanced and lightened. But the lightening process takes out a lot of integrity. But its also dropping about 5.5 lbs out of it. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it works out. My 2 cents.

Well i have the stage 3 and if it ever fails or if i ever need to change it, ill probly go with an OS Giken kit and get a flywheel with the holes drilled in it to release heat.

Speaking of aftermarket flywheels, are there any good options for CA owners? My clutch and everything is going back together soon, but if I can find a good flywheel I'd like to do that at the same time.

I believe JUN makes one. If Fidanza ever produced a CA flywheel, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

I think the consensus (sp) is to tell a machine shop to give the backside of the stocker hell and shave up to 5 lbs off. I cant remember what both sides look at but you have to be careful where you shave it off because of fitment and durability. OS Giken is another top dollar alternative

The reason I'm complaining is because of the history that I've had with them. When i first purchased it, this same clip that was broken on this one, was broken (loose actually) on the original. I sent it back, recieved the wrong one, sent it back, and then recieved this one. The blueing and cracking I'm not so concerned about, the the scoring and broken clip. All I want from them is a new pressure plate, and maybe clutch plate as the contact pads are scored.

Lol well i drove mine for the first time yesterday. I can say with no boost and no break in it was rough :). After my 400 mile break in, ill take it out and give it a few good drops and see if it holds up.

Mine held up for awhile with boost after break in. Its still hold just fine, but I have a feeling after its back up and running its gonna let go on me.
