My wife just got her new SL AWD and is very happy with it.

There was no dealer option for any sort of backup sensor. I have this option on my Toyota Camry hybrid (dealer installed) and I was wondering if anybody has had anything similar installed on their Rogue and if so...where did you have it done? In the Toyota world it is called "Park Pilot" as you get closer to an object when backing up a beeping sound speeds up until it is a solid tone (about 12 inches away).

Because of the limited visibility through the rear window of the Rogue this is something I really want her to have. I was hoping to find somewhere to have it done. Because little sensors have to be drilled into the back bumper I don't think I want to install it because of the new paint and all :-)

We are in B.C. Canada.

Thanks in advance.

I had purchased a Sonar Vision BAT-1. I never installed it though. It's still sitting brand new on my desk.

Another member successfully installed the same unit. Read more here:

Others have used backup cameras, etc.

Hi;

Thanks for the response. That is the idea of what I'm looking for. I have seen quite a few different versions such as these http://www.backupsensorshop.com/

I was hoping for someone else to do the install just so the wife doesn't have to watch me drilling holes into her new car...hahaha

I haven't looked into it yet, but I was thinking about some electronics shop with an install bay for doing these kind of things.

It really depends on which kind you want, either camera or distance measurement. I went with the wireless distance unit and am very happy. They are all about the same (same technology I mean). Only the size and appearance differs.

I'm not a fan of the camera setups. With the audio from the backup sensor, you can still watch what is happening in the front of car at the same time. I think it is a safer choice.

Which one did you get? Do you have a link to the site?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't remember the vendor. It was the first mod I did on the Rogue long ago. I do know I bought the kit on ebay. I just looked and there are so many of them and they all look the same. I posted pictures on the other forum early last year showing the installation.

What are you going to plug that in to ? It requires a display. I have an Audiovox ACA250 wireless camera and display that works OK and is pretty easy to install in the rogue.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-1....html

The camera is wired into the backup lights and the display can be plugged into the power socket in the console or hardwired to the fuse panel under the dash. A problem is that the display is always on and the camera is only on when backing up so the display just shows noise when not backing up. A solution is to wire the display to the backup lights, or wire the camera to the fuse panel. Either is doable but both require running wire the length of the car between the fuse panel and the tailgate.

I was thinking about one of the in dash nav systems with a aux video input. Thanks for you suggestion.

I want to install a very simple backup sensor that just beeps as you get close to objects, I don't want a camera or a difficult install. I found one on ebay that claims no drilling and quick install with wireless technology. The problem I'm having is that there are TONS of these things, and all seem quite different, I don't know which to go with??!! This one looks very interesting provided it is not going to fall apart and quit working after a year:

Kerrton, that is the one I have on my car.Yes, for sure, you don't have any drilling,... but you have to remove the rear bumper, so it is not that much a "simple" installation.Good point: it is really precise and when it beeps continously, it means that I am about 2 inch from something. Nice when you park in town.Bad point: Doesn't work when it is raining or snowing, and from what I remember, during cold winter time.

So, conclusion: For Florida . For Canada

Try to find something like Philip uses: A single detector that you can attach to your rear license plate or your hitch if you have one.
