Trust me. I usually have bad luck when it comes to my car, so I bet only mine is screwed up somehow.

Some good example are...Circuit Sports hood dampers don't fit on mine. Seems like they work great on other s13s. Got the Nismo engine mounts and front strut tower bar won't fit.
hmm....maybe a tweaked frame from some unknown accident? It could cause things to be off kilter. That thing did sit high. My stock shifter is nowhere near that tall.

Yup! KA with Nismo mounts. I found out Nismo mounts raise the engine a day after I replaced them. I should have done some more research.

Mine is a convertible, so maybe it's different from coupe or hatch? I gotta ask vert guys and see what they say.

If I can manufacture good quality short shifter like B&M, I'd definitely make shaft length adjustable. I don't think it's that hard to make it adjustable. Just some extra machine work and parts will do.

Good jorb to OP. I have neem doing this to my short shifters for over 10 years. Finally went B&M so I have to do it to this one too. Only thing is that weld could use like 2 more passes so that the bead is flush with the bar, then grind it flush.

why though? That's a lot of extra work for something that is not seen. The weld bead that is on there is plenty strong for what it does.

I guess because I'm a perfectionist.

Same here. I totally understand. I hit it with rubber mullet before I installed it. There was no problem, so I went ahead and installed it. I would have done just like you said if I had welded it myself. That black cone thing also works like a brace althought it's a plastic piece, so I thought it would be okay.

Get under the car with a mini sledge and a long flathead screwdriver and go to town on the bottom part of the shifter. It should pop out. DO NOT try to pry it off by using the "circle" on the trans tunnel that the shifter goes through as leverage. You will dent it and it will be all unsightly.

I was checking out magazines at lunch today and saw this ad in the Modified mag. Cobb Tunning has adjustable shifters for some cars. You can adjust height as well as lower portion, so shift throw is adjustable too. B&M should have come up with something like this at least for the shifter height. This one is for WRX 08-09.

maybe its your shift knob that makes it look so much taller than clawhammers.

his greddy might screw in deeper. i know my VooDoo shiftknob's inside threads run almost the whole depth of the knob (if that makes sense) allowing it to screw in further, thus making it sit shorter.

My shift knob only adds about half an inch and that's about it. I think it depends on how your transmission seats. I can't remove front two bolts on the shifter. I have to undo the cross member to lower the transmission and then I can take out front two bolts. I have a new Nismo transmission mount, so that might be it.
