I do not advise removing that plug unless you are 100% positive that that is where it is leaking

It turned out I was sent a defective OEM waterpump. I installed another waterpump and no longer had any problems with leaks in that area.

Oh i see. Is it an oil gallery plug or is it just a plug that is there for no reason? I have heard a few people say they remember a hole there but no plug. And others say they dont know what its for... What is it really? Haha, Does it come out? I put a wrench to it trying to take it out and it didnt budge at all. Im assuming its there forever? Is it bad that i even tried to loosen it? Im afraid that maybe something could have gotten hurt from just touching it with a wrench haha im ultra paranoid about it.

i pull the water pump re did the gasket let it cure 24hrs and filled with coolent no leaks!

I had a problem with that after a rebuild. come to find out it was loosened and backed out. I tightened it and no more oil leaks. Found it cause I thought it was coming from the main seal. After replacing the seal I was still leaking so investigated some more and saw the seal was dry and the oil was coming from that bolt under the WP.

that i noticed today when i went to fill the coolent system it was never coolent leak at the bolt but from water pump and since that bolt is right under i never notice any oil

as the others now said, i confirm it was not coolent plug haha. i noticed a tiny bit of oil res. at the bolt threads so used brake cleaner wiped clean and seems just fine.

if you can tighten it again do it and forget about the bolt, what a pain in the tail, 2 months wasted
