P.S. don't slide the turns at an autoX event, people will laugh at you.

and your probably going to need a Snell approved SA2000+ helmet, so dont show up with a motorcycle helmet (Dirtbike/Streetbike)

People will tell you to be smooth, but int he Z it is not your best bet. Leave it in 2nd! Drive as hard as you can until you have to brake! Then brake as hard as you can and then drive the gas down as long as you can and repeat until you are done with your lap. Be as agressive as you can with out spinning out!!!!

^^ very true, but you must also concentrate on your line. I would say that is the most important rule above all, you can be as hard on the car as you want, but if you arent taking the proper line you will be under steering and oversteering all over the place. It will feel like you are going much faster than you really are, and you will wonder why you did so bad when it feels like you pushed the car as hard as it will go. You need to know when to brake, too early will slow you down, too late will put you into danger, you must also know when to accelerate, to late will slow you down, to early will cause understeer/oversteer, depending on how you entered the turn. Heel-Toe is also a very important tactic that you will find increasingly necessary. but that's just my 2 cents.

Hay not trying to thread-jack, but matt_2036, what kind of camber are you running.

1.5 degree front and a tad over 2 in the rear. My car is a dedicated race car though, so street longevitly is of no concern. I have cusco control arms in the rear and central 20 in the front.

thanks,

o, and just lettin you know, alot of people with heavy autox cars like the 350 like to run more camber in the front than the rear. Try switching your #'s and who knows, it just might give you some better times. Otherwise your setup is good for street tires.

ooooo, i see how it is. Well that makes it much easier then, i am honestly a little faster in an automatic (in tiptronic mode), less to worry about.

Yeah i still drive my car to and from autox, and track events. I ace in the street tire class here in SC. I am running the dunlop startechs right now and love them!!!

Well he just assumed that you would be driving a stick if you are autoxing. You will not be conpetative in any regional areas in the states with and auto!!! Plus every one who sees your car at a race will ask them selves..."why did he bring an automatic to an autox"......

I suspect you're gonna find out after your first time out, how little you know. I would also strongly recommend you spend time with an instructor. I'm not volunteering.

Matt, He's actually correct to a point. Modern technology has " idiot" proofed cars in some ways to enable ...id...inexperienced kids like Richie in automatic trannied cars to do better...at least initially. As I said once he tries it, he might hopefully begin to realize he has lots to learn...nahhhhhh.

honestly, you don't have try to defend you car, you and i both know that the Auto Trans on the new 350Z is f***ing insane.....just let people keep thinking autos are slow.... and then kill them on the track!

And for anyone that hasn't driven one of the Auto HR Z's,i suggest you do. Throw it in tip and feel how quickly/smoothly that thing rev match downshifts.

And for those of you who are thinking what i think your thinking, (lol), NO, i dont have an auto, I have a 6mt. 350z

Start a new thread... i spent too long editing (deleting CRAP) from this one...

As for everyone else, if you are going to comment, make sure it contributes to the argument at hand because "personal" opinions of one another are ingredients for a BAN.... i'm not joking around either, i shouldn't have to say this gentleMEN

Ryan, since you quoted my text. I was inviting Richie to do his own research, and recognize what would be supporting mods for his purpose.

Personal opinion... hardly.

With all due respect mezz, why is Richie still in this forum. Most of his 1800 posts are mostly useless and irrelevant. Many of the regulars on this forum flame on richie because this kid always comes up with misleading information and posts that cry for flamage. I might get banned for posting this, but moderators have to see that a lot of threads that start off good end up being off-topic arguments once richie shares his "opinions". If you want to keep the forums clean, put that kid on check. Giving him 0% user rating will not do anything.

I cannot ban... plus idiocy is not grounds for ban - just what i've been told and my opinion on it doesn't matter. SOP's are SOP's I like his posting as much of the next guy...

REMEMBER: I am a moderator, and i have to moderate. Can't really take sides in this situation.... I have removed posts i felt did not pertain to the topic. Rare_F8 sorry i deleted your post but that subject (tho related to the topic) was heading nowhere... Please bare with me guys

Ldstang50. I was under the impression you have to be a PCA member in order to compete in one of their autocrosses.
