I hope my wife prefers stick too:D

I'd rather have the manual because, well, I hate the way autos shift. I find it rather irritating, you just have more control with manual and automotive enthusiast won't think you're a pansy when they see the big [D] there.

Dude it sia turbo daytona with a rebuilt engine and new transmission. Most Starion/conquests are smoking like a freight train, and electrical nightmares. I love the conquest, but he has an opourtunity to get a nice daytona. If it were a starion I'm sure he would buy a starion.

bah, that's too much work

old turbo chrysler pwns, not the fastest or most hi tech, but a full rebuild kit is only 400 dollars, holds up good to 19 psi on stock internals, has a cult following, and damnit, Carrol Shelby messed with them and that says something!

I'd hold off only if I had my mind on finding a pristine Turbo Caravan, I think so far the fastest turbo caravan pulls a mid 11 sec run and still used as a daily, tell me that's not scary!

assuming I had money, I could purchase the van as well as another turbo motor from a couple of junk lots around here for like 200 dollars, the van has been popped in the front end but since when has a Caravan been a hard or exspensive thing to find?

The biggest drawback is that you have to go home depot on some of the stuff do to a lack of aftermarket support, I don't think the Daytona is near as bad as the Caravan in that aspect though:)

is it a pop up headlight Daytona or the goofy little stationary lights?

I always thought the pop up frontend looked way better myself.

Unless you urgently need transportation, I'd suggest putting off buying cars you're not crazy about. The initial purchase cost of these older vehicles is merely a drop in the bucket comparaed to the upkeep. Don't tie yourself down and regret it later.

If you are using for it commuting only, and do a ton of stop/go or travel on roads that frequently jam, automatics are not that awful. But you will be labelled a weenie by purists, it's inevitable. I say wait and get what you want. If you want a stick get a stick. If you want an auto, get an auto. Bear in mind Dodge Daytona's reliability track record is much worse than the 240sx. A fun car isn't much fun when its sitting at the repair shop. And the Omni...er... Daytona was not a well built car.

You damn right he is. Rare little cars. I knew you said turbo, but shelby makes it oh so much sweeter. 2.2 liter is more powerful but still 2.5 is pretty neat. This is going by autos.msn.com

it's an 80's Dodge, of course, but it should have Shelby's signature on the dash:)

still a neat car that can be made pretty quick for a lot cheaper than a stock 240.

On another turbo dodge note. Seems the elusive turbo caravan that was at a local lot has returned. May break down and buy that beast.

can't hate the turbo dodge, it was a super tough motor:)

I thin a lebaron convertible is one of the few convertibles I wouldn't mind having, I usually prefer coupes though some of the new hardtop convertibles are ok

I find it easy to dislike them. You might like the motor but the car was cheaply made, unreliable, unattractive, uncomfortable, unrefined, ugly, and was essentially an Omni with stripe decals, fancy wheel covers and Carroll Shelby's signature on the dash. A true diamond in the rough collectible.....not.

I thought the rarest Lebaron was that ill-fated joint venture with Chrylser-TC Maserati project that ended up looking exactly like a LeBaron. Chrysler sold very few of them. I believe those might be considered borderline collectibles. But, I had read that they were built so poorly that they're not particularly valuable.

I got love for the omni as well. Not as much as Mr1der. I will agree that dodge builds some ugly poorly built cars.
