I've learned from the best as well. The high school I attended has one of the best automotive programs in the country, and have placed in the top 3 in automotive competitions in the U.S. If you believe in a product, and someone comes along and says I wouldn't use that, it's your god given right to back up that product, but to call the person you are talking to an inexperienced, stupid teenager at the same time is way uncalled for.

And in my opinion, as far as my grammar skills go, i believe they are in tip top shape.

I have one rule, do unto others as others do unto you. Show me respect and your highest level of courtesy and I assure you, I will show you the same level of respect with the highest intensity.
How is it believable that you have been working on cars for 5 years, and you are unaware as to how to remove some adhesive and an emblem from a metal car part??? Just doesnt seem believable. And not to mention that you would then have alot of people around you to help remove said emblem. I followed your rule, do unto others etc... I offered a suggestion and you made a blastfamous statement about the product I suggested and I felt 100% disrespected. So I guess you should learn how to speak to people first before you tell them to respect you. Also, If you went to one of the top 3 automotive schools, WHY THE HELL CANT YOU REMOVE AN EMBLEM WITHOUT OUR HELP??????? Come on, just take the little bit of humility here, and admit that you came off like an a** when you tell me that the product I suggested is gonna "rip you clearcoat off" as you so rudely suggest that it is "a volitile paint thinner". I wouldnt suggest it if it was gonna eat your paint. But doesnt matter, you'll try and have something smart to say here although, I'm done with this thread and hope by now that these emblems are removed and this is all redundant at this point. Once again, I'll be ignorent I guess and hope that you have good luck with the build.

I work on the mechanics of vehicles, not their exterior.

ASE certified schools have to teach certain things every year in order to keep their certification. Trust me when i say that fabrication is one of the last things that a school is going to be worried about.

I'm good with motors, how they work, how to make them faster with out blowing it up, its what I'm good at, I just never really had an interest in auto body fabrication. About the only thing I've ever done with the body of a car is help my friend swap his pignose to a chuki.

you guys are kinda hostile, i know im new to the site but as far as the arguments go, goo gone works fine. you dont let it sit on your fenders and rot away coat after coat. yes the one dude got overly defensive but who cares drop it and continue your day, and no offense to the ASE guy but this is an auto body question not a mechanical question so you really didnt give any input in on the topic at hand. also to the guy that started the thread, dont ask for help if you dont want proven ways of doing it, no matter how crazy it seems.

Lighten up kid I use goo gone for all my de-badging and sticker clean up needs. It never harms the clear coat. The car I had when I was 16 and took the badges off still hasn't shown any signs of reduced quality in those local areas for 9 hard years of parking on the street in PA weather.

Not to add insult to injury but your paint doesn't look that great anyway, give it a try and you will see the light.

For removung the badge i use a putty knife(auto body type).Goo gone is safe to use on automotive surfaces. I use 3m adheasive remover since its let votile(health reasons) and works just as great as paint thinner or goo gone. Paint thinner does not ruin paint jobs. The s*** evaporates so f*** fast it wouldnt be able to. The only reason u might say it ruins paint jobs and the same with goo gone is becuase its sucks all the oils in the clears, leaving it open to the sun's uv rays.

Simple just wash the damn surface than apply a coat or 2 of wax and walk away.
