would really appreciate it if you could take some close-up pics (lights don't have to be on) of the LED strips with the hood closed, hood opened, and how the strips are connected to power.

also, if you could give a run-down of what else you needed to complete the installation (other than the LED strips), including any additional parts or tools, that would be fantastic.

thanks!

i removed the weather stripping... i had a roll of 3m double sided adhesive and i put 3 layers where the weather stripping was in order to have the leds sit flush with top of headline. so its 3 layers of adhesive tape then i placed the led strip on top of that... maybe ill try to take pics 2morrow morning..

did not have to remove headlight assembly... everything is in the "groove" where the weather stripping sat. i didnt use any electrical tape except around the red butt connectors where i spliced into parking lights... when the hood is shut it fits snuggly in there which is why i used 3 layers of 3m adhesive, so the led strip had a level "platform" to adhere too

also, does anyone know where to get the LED tubes (the ones where it is a continuous strip of light, not individual LED's)? still debating which way to go.

roll of 3m double sided tape (lined gap where i removed weatherstrip with 3 layers so led strip would sit just above headlight assembly, i suppose you could get creative here and use whatever you want)

18-22 gauge butt connectors (sized by color, they are the red ones you need 4 of them)pliers (to squeeze butt connectors closed with wires inserted)electrical tape (for insulation around butt connectors for extra "waterproofing")scissors or wire strippers (i used scissors but i cut completely through the wires a few times, instead of stripping the insulation off, so wire strippers are preferred)

ill try to take some pics in the morning of under the hood and the wires, weather permitting.

here's another product that looks promising...

http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

actually, this is a better it. just not sure about the brightness. the ones in the link above are nice, but probably way too thick to fit.

just some fyi, that first link you posted; you're right, it won't work for this application, its too thick...bought them and its too thick....looks like crap....

second link looks more promising...when I get some extra cash to blow, i'll try those...

I was planning on adding the Halos to my headlights... but after seeing this, I really like the idea. Seems like both would be way too much, and getting to close to "ricer" territory...?

Has anyone seen a picture with both done? Thoughts/input is appreciated!

I saw a few options on ebay for the side-emitting SMD LED strips...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...222f5

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...8ee27

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...c89ef

I ended up ordering the 3rd item on the list--it looks to have a double the number of LED's per inch compared to the other options. Will try and post more once the items arrive.

I wonder if it would be difficult to wire a amber/yellow LED strip as a signal light so that it sits right above the fog light but below the bumper (attached to the underside/lip of the bumper).

Ok its done.....sorry for the oversexposed pics, that seems to be everyones problem. Ill try to take better ones soon. I tried to have them go up the inside of the headlight, but the Led strip kept on shorting out on me when I bent it, dont know why. So i settled for going in a straight line under the headlight. I might figure it out and still try to bend it upward.

That's different. I sort of like it. Your LED's seem brighter than the others' in this forum. Which kind are they?

I got them from iJDMToy.com, there super bright. Im still debating if i should put them on top of the headlight instead of under the headlight.

All those who did the mod , Amazing pictures. It definitely looks great.

Is it possible to put instructions here about how to wire the LED strip to light them up ?

Thanks

Which one on iJDMToy? That one looks good. I think it looks good under the headlight where it is.

Are they thin enough to insert in between the headlight housing and the bumper? Is that how you did put it in or just 3Med it directly onto the headlight housing?

they fit directly between the bumper and the headlight housing. I have them stuck on the headlight housing but i guess you can have in the bunper too, but i didnt want it on the paint. I took off the grill for easier access, no need to take off bumper for thr Y34. ill take pictures without them on so you can see where they are. The strip i super thin..

Just did these LEDs on my car. I took a lot of pictures with different exposure settings on my phone so you can see them a bit different. The last picture has my high beams on as well. I am not sure why my "normal" lights turned out so yellowish in the picture. As you all know, they arent yellow lights ;) Ill take a couple daytime pictures after work today

Can you see all the dots at night or does it look like a strip of light?

Close up it looks like dots, from 100' or more it looks like a single strip of lights. I got it that way on purpose though, I wanted the LEDs close together.

Installation took maybe an hour. I spliced the wires into the daylight running lights that you can manually turn on an off without any other lights being on. This gives me full use of the lights to have on during the day, but the "eyebrows" and the regular lights still at night. As well as full use of high beams and fog lights still. SO it worked out really well. No additional wire was needed as the LED strips came with about 8" of wire on the end of them so I was able to splice that into the wire from the lights right there.
