These lights aren't that noticeable in the daytime, so I would just run them off of the parking lights. You can leave it on the auto setting, thats what I do.

so they stick to the underside of the headlight assembly... now is the 3m tape clear? or is there a notch underneath behind the bumper that allows you to place the leds so the lights shine up? can you paint a better picture?

They are clear with the led's sort of on the edge of the 3M tape. When you stick them to the underside of the Headlight, they shine out. So the lights kinda come out of the side of the tape.

I was looking at my headlights last evening, trying to decide if there is a way to stick a strip along the topside to have something look like this.

Thanks for the extra info. Based on that I'm going to do it your way and just hook into the parking lights.

So is that the same LED strip? It looks like you went for it, but your comment makes it seems this was a test or something. What did you decide?

Those pics aren't my car. They are pics from a Japanese forum.

I was trying to figure out if I could get that look by sticking a strip along the top of the headlight.

Aha. Now if I only could read Japanese!

It is a good look, though. Once my LED light strips arrive I'll be able to visualize what's possible better with the real thing.

It just says that it is a DIY project, taking about 30 minutes. They used flexible LED tubes and used the tape that came with the tubes to attach it to the car. It is hooked up to headlights so it will go on and off when they are on or off, and also installed a switch inside the cabin to turn it off whenever they want. The LED tube is installed between the the pillars of the bumper(??) and the headlights.

Here are some more pictures of it: ...Gotta say, this guy knows how to make his car look good

Thanks for the translation, and the pics. Those little spotlights on the edge of the front bumper spoiler are pretty unique.

That second car looks like he only ran the LEDs (or is it a neon tube?) across the top of the lights. If that's the case, you shouldn't need to drop the bumper for the install. Hmmmmm.

I typed this up myself taking what I could see from the car owner's pictures and finished description, so improvise if something is not exactly right! P.S. Pictures are also from car owner, not taken by me.

Necessary items:

1) LED Tube, such as http://cgi.ebay.com/Crystal-Fl..._1167 or http://cgi.ebay.com/Crystal-Fl..._1167 (I believe the owner states that his LED tube is a total length of 15 centimeters.)2) Tape to attach LEDs to car. Either typical electrical tape (recommended because it does not melt from the engine heat) or I suppose auto stripping tape can be used.3) Good electrical knowledge of the M headlight system.

Instructions:

1) Unlatch your hood and prepare the surface of the headlights by cleaning it and making sure no dirt is on it. Tape will not hold if the surface is dirty. 2) Remove the rubber strip that is attached to the top of the headlight assembly.3) Next, take the LED tube and, if it is not already 15 centimeters long, properly cut it to the right size. Then, place it on the same area where the rubber strip was removed. 4) Now tape down the LED tube with the electrical tape or auto stripping tape. Be sure that the tube is securely attached.5. I do not have an intimate knowledge of the headlight electrical system, but you must wire the LED tube to the headlights so they go on and off accordingly. Anyone that knows please feel free to add to these instructions.

Result:

I am Def gonna try to do that set up from above with the led strip on top of the headlights. Im gona go red though and put it on by using the parking light switch. But right now i plan on other mods before the lights. If anyone does get around to doing this def. post pics of install.

Is there a difference between LED tubes and LED strips? some seem to have the distinct lights, and the other seems to be a continuous strip of light.

I don't think I've ever heard of LED tubes before (neon tubes but not LED tubes).

Hey Duceynash...

First of all love the Audi look LED'S!!! You did a perfect job at those!! I'm new to this forum. I hate the yellow parking light look in the center. It looks like the yellow caps to your parking lights are off as they look clear in the pictures. Did you modify those?? For some reason mine dont' light up. I have blue LED's above the high beam light. I wonder by plugging those in if it killed the parking lights out...any suggestions? Thanks!

i ordered the led strip from ijdmtoy.com and wired them into parking lights... i installed them like the tubes in the pics above.. but imo the strip looks better because u can actually see the leds and its not just a tube of light. i installed them like headlight "eyebrows" they turned out really good... ill try to find my digi cam for picks.

Thanks for the pics, man. Looks very very good. I'm still waiting for my LED strip from JDMtoy ... they're in the mail

Any tips on the install? Since the LED strip from jdmtoy comes with 3M adhesive, did you use a bunch of black tape like the Japanese sample suggests? Did you Have to remove the rubber weatherstripping (?) shown in the photos of the Japanese install?

Again, good job - "eyebrow install" looks great.

Agree, need more descriptive steps of the process, did you remove the rubber gasket and and did you have to remove the headlight assembly at all. BTW, they look awesome, more pictures?

thanks guys... what kinda pics u want?

i removed the weather stripping... i had a roll of 3m double sided adhesive and i put 3 layers where the weather stripping was in order to have the leds sit flush with top of headline. so its 3 layers of adhesive tape then i placed the led strip on top of that... maybe ill try to take pics 2morrow morning..

did not have to remove headlight assembly... everything is in the "groove" where the weather stripping sat. i didnt use any electrical tape except around the red butt connectors where i spliced into parking lights... when the hood is shut it fits snuggly in there which is why i used 3 layers of 3m adhesive, so the led strip had a level "platform" to adhere too
