There are 4 reasons I didn't purchase new Murano.

1. Poor gas mileage (14 – 18 city/highway was my average)2. Too expensive for the fully loaded LE AWD ($41,000)3. Too big for my needs (I’m single with 2 dogs, no kids)4. Recommended/required Premium fuel (better performance and MPG with premium)

That being said, the Murano was a great SUV! I never had any problems with it, which is why I’m happy to buy its little brother, the Rogue.

I've read many complaints about the blinds spots of the Rogue. Yes, this takes some getting used to, but it was the same in the Murano. The Rogue does have a back-up camera as an option. I would recommend it as it does offer a great rear end view.

I've also read complaints about the CVT transmission. Once again, it’s the same in the Murano so I can’t tell a difference. It took a little getting used to, but I really like it, very smooth.

Another complaint addressed by many is the small engine, 170 HP. I agree, it would be nice to add a V-6 & Hybrid model as engine choices. But this engine is okay and the MPG is better than the Murano. (It will take me a few weeks to adjust to the lack of V-6 muscle)

For $30,000 I would like to see automatic headlights (which isn't even an option). Plus the fuel filler door should have a release inside the SUV as anyone can siphon gas out of the Rogue unless you purchase a locking gas cap. And yes, doors that lock automatically when shifting into drive would be great.

I see the Rogue as a perfect mini-SUV for a single guy, raising 2 dogs, living in the Snow Belt, such as myself.

2010 Nissan Rogue, SL AWD, Wicked Black, Moonroof package, Premium Package, Leather Package + splash guards, rear bumper protector, floor mats & cargo area protector. $29,430.00.

I will be adding tint to the driver and passenger side windows, side body molding, pin striping, hood wind deflector, sunroof wind deflector and chrome grill inserts.

Welcome to the forum! I am sure that after the first several fill ups, in which your mileage will not be so good, you will be absolutely thrilled with the thriftiness of the Rogue.

Regarding your comment about adjusting to lack of V6 muscle... coming from the cars I used to drive.... I'm lovin' the 170 horses of the Rogue! It's like a sports car to me!

One other thing I forgot to add, I put convex 'blind-spot' mirrors on each of the side mirrors and now rear visibility is no longer an issue... it really helps with lane changing and I highly recommend it.

My name is Paul, I'm 25 and live in Williamsburg, VA. I came to this forum simply because I am sold on buying a Rogue for my wife Courtney. We are expecting our first child in April 2010 and she currently drives a 00' Mustang which probably wouldn't last passed July of this year.

Anyways, I'm in the market for a new 2010 Rogue SL FWD w/ Premium package.

I've started a thread reguarding a good "out the door' price for a new Rogue. If you have any feedback for me please let me know. Thanks guys, nice meeting all of you!

Hey Paul, welcome to the forum, there should be lots of information here to help you make your decision, the FAQ is the first starting point.

Also, I bought my Rogue the same month we had our first child, so any specific questions you have about how it works just let me know, overall it's been a great family vehicle, works great with car seats and the height is just perfect for getting the kids in and out. Here's a link to a car seat thread that is really important to consider for parents:

New Rogue owner as of 1pm this afternoon Bought a 2010 Gotham Gray Rogue SL FWD w/moonroof and premium package. My 2002 Ford Escort was on its last legs before needing some major investments in repairs.

I've been lurking around the forum for about 2 weeks reading up on reviews and information, so I thought I'd stop by to say thanks! I'm sure I'll be asking some questions in the future

Sticker price: 26,110.00Rogue SL FWD Base: 21930Splash Guards, Rear Bumper Protector, Moonroof Pkg, Floor mats w/Cargo Protector, Aluminum kick plates, and Premium package additional to base

Got the dealer to throw in the crossbars for the top free (I have bike trays that will work with the factory cross bars on the roof rails).

22,810+283.50 in fees had a gross price of 23093.5. Dealer did both the $750 rebate and 2.9% financing... I had a trade in of 1750 and $14000 down. So, total financed on the car was 6593.50

Oh, and since I bought the car in Ohio and live in VA, I have to pay the tax on the car once I get back into the state and register. Tax wasn't charged on the sale in Ohio.

Hello All. Just purchased my 2010 SL FWD Rogue in Silver Ice 6 days ago.

This is my first Nissan purchase ever and my wife and I have been using every excuse possible to drive it so far! The dealership was actually a pleasant experience for us.

Planned upgrades are rear spoiler, fog lights, dvd player, window wind deflectors, door scuff guards and rear bumper guard.

We bought it with 9 miles on it and now has 275 miles. Liking the CVT transmission so far.

Jon

Back in 1994 I retired my old 1981 Datsun 200SX knotch back with 286,000 km. One '94 Dodge Colt, '94 Chevy Cavalier and '02 Chevy Malibu later I have come back to Nissan (Datsun)

I just picked up my 2010 Carbon Silver (Canadian equivalent to American Gotham Gray) SL AWD on Monday night. I had to wait a couple of weeks for delivery, so to better educate myself about my new purchase I started perusing the forums for reviews and opinions.

Let me say that this site has been a most excellent resource. I have already learned a lot for someone who has only owned a Rogue for 2 days. While awaiting delivery I acquired (based mostly from what I have learned from the forum members here)...

- Factory Undercoating (ordered for delivery from Dealership)- Rear Bumper Protector (OEM Nissan)- Black, All-Weather Cargo Mat (eBay GETITCOVERED)- Black Canvas Seat Covers, "Nissan Rogue" embroidered in white (eBay Premium Seat Covers)- Chrome Grille Covers (eBay Suburban Wheel Cover)- K51 Painted Body Side Moldings (SpoilerandWingKing.com)- Side Window Wind Deflectors - Dark Smoke Acrylic (eBay d!ck's Auto Parts)

I haven't had the time to apply the exterior accessories, yet. I'll be doing that this weekend. I intend on taking "before and after" pictures to post later.

Thanks to all of the forum members for posting and keeping us new owners informed. Cheers!

That is going to be one heck of a Rogue right from the start!!Congrats on your purchase, welcome back to the family .

An advice if I may: Don't forget that for the outside sticky stuff, it is better to get a temperature above 15C for them to last on the car. So except if you car is garaged and garage is heated (at least for the weekend when you put them on), you'd better wait for spring to install them. 24 hours of curing time at 15C is also a good thing to consider (Install them on Saturday evening if you don't plan to use the car on Sunday).

Waiting for pictures (I love pictures) .

I went to one of the best respected body shops in Vancouver for an opinion of the items that I acquired online (chrome grille covers, body side moldings, vent visors). The assistant manager inspected them and told me that they are all quality items, reaffirming with me that aftermarket parts are truly the way to go .

As a SUPER ADDED BONUS , he offered to professionally install everything for me (including OEM rear bumper protector) - ALL FOR FREE!

Completely amazed by the spontaneous act of generosity from a complete stranger, I didn't know how to react. It is hard to imagine anyone in 2010 to offer up free services - especially with the current economic climate. So I took him up on his offer.

He took my Rogue into the body shop to dry off from the rain and warm up to room temperature before detailing. It was 8 AM and he asked me to leave it with him until lunch. By noon, it was ready. I zipped me over to pick it up and WOW! What a difference! I liked the Rogue when I chose it, but now I am totally thrilled with my vehicle with the extras added!

Thanks for reading. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my pictures up, but I just felt compelled to tell my story as I am still flabbergasted that my intended DIY project for the weekend ended up being done professionally and FREE!

I am going to go pick up a flat of Heineken on Monday and drop it off for Jason and the fine gentlemen at the local body shop.

Just joined. Bought a 2009 Rogue summer of 09. Less than 10,000 miles the drivers door handle broke. Thsi happened about the time we put snow tires on. Got a severe shutter when driving at 55mph+. Took to the dealership. Asked to have tires re-balanced at the same time they were to fix the door handle. 3 hours later, left and still have shutter at 55+. Ten days later, the passenger side door handle breaks. Dealer brings a loaner car (front wheel drive, summer tires) picks up Rogue. Brings Rogue back a few days later with handle fixed. Next day, drivers side handle goes again! Next day get three recalls in mail. Dealer finally comes thru with awd loaner. After TWO WEEKS, they say they stole new door handle parts from a new Rogue on lot and that Nissan has NO FIX for shutter!!! It's not our problem, go talk to Nissan. Nissan won't respond. Next stop NH Attorney General. DON'T BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to see your Rogue experience is less than stellar. I'm not familiar with Lemon Laws in New Hampshire (or really, any lemon laws for that matter), but maybe this falls under that?

Can you elaborate on the shutter you're experiencing? Also, what recalls were issued, and what did you have fixed? If you read around on the forum, there's been some replacements/updates of the CVT required for some Rogues.

Plenty of helpful people on this forum that might be able to steer you in the right direction and get you to love the Rogue again.

The shutter is like driving on scarified pavement from a vibration and noise standpoint. I was told that Nissan won't authorize replacing the transmission anymore because after a few thousand miles, the shutter will return.

The recalls were for the nuts for the tire pressure monitor censor saying that in areas where road salt is used the nuts may corrode and give false readings. Here's a clue... this is an AWD vehicle... ninety percent of them are probably purchased for areas that have ... uh... snow! The next was for a lose bolt for the steering gear housing. "if it comes lose you may not be able to steer the vehicle". The third was for a new computer program that was supposed to fix a "low speed shutter" in the transmission. NOT

We also got something saying that Nissan would double the warranty on the transmission to 6 years or 120,000. Big deal. I didn't buy the car to run it at less than 55mph.

WRONG!!!Look at what car I have and where I live (and I am not the only one). You will see that a lot of members here that live in Florida and California bought AWD.

BTW, this recall was for all Rogues, not just the AWD models.

All the other recalls have been talked about here. If you prefer buy a car without any recalls on it, you'd better prepare yourself for some long walks, as there is no such car.

Have fun with your rogue.

Hey guys,

Please limit the conversation in this thread to new owner introductions, and discuss the recalls, AWD system and vibration issue in existing threads, or create a new one if none already exist.

This will help keep things organized and ensure that everyone who is interested or is experiencing similar problems will see this discussion and have a chance to participate.

Also, MadRogue your high speed shudder problem sounds pretty unique, I don't recall anyone having this problem and even worse, and your dealer sounds completely out to lunch. I'd recommend starting a new topic on this so we can all give our thoughts and offer suggestions on how to deal with this.

hank you.

I own a black 2008 Rogue SL and bought it from costco.com with it only having 35 miles on it. Wish the leather package was available at the time of purchase. I use it for work purposes and have logged in close to 38,000 miles on it. Get about 27 mpg which is pretty good for as many miles as I drive. Only thing I majorly dislike is the small gas tank. Everything else I can either live with or can change given the time.

X.

Altima: Push button to startRogue: Turn switch to start

Altima: Locking gas access doorRogue: Non locking gas access door

We had to replace our leased 5-year old Hyundai Tucson V6 AWD and our 2007 Toyota Corolla this month. So we will only have one car. We picked up a new Black Rogue SL AWD yesterday. My last Nissan was a Nissan Micra over 20 years ago! We were concerned about the reported CVT problems but in the end we thought the Rogue offered the best value, ride, and performance (we compared it with the 2010 Tucson, CR-V, Outlander, and RAV4). We're hoping it proves to be reliable over the next 3 years.

I bought my 2009 SL AWD Rogue in Queens NYC. I have owned 2 Maximas prior and this was my first experience with an SUV. I love the versatility aspect of the Rogue not too big but gets the job done with good mileage. I will say that the fit and finish of my Maximas were far better and their reliability were superb. I am not getting that feeling so far with my Rogue and as such this may be my last Nissan purchase.I found this forum while researching the trans rattle issue and discovered a host of other concerns others were having which I also experienced. ie gas gauge, creaks in the console, door handle failure, door sill scratches, plus the several recall notices. At this point I don't believe I will hold onto this car much beyond the end of the warranty which is 3yr -36,000 mi.Tony

Well I finally decided to register on the forums. Been reading all of the topics that get posted and then some. I bought my 2008 Rogue on December 17th after hitting black ice in my civic and wrecking it. Bless its engine; only had 30k miles on it. It is indigo blue and I am loving it. Looking to put some rims on it and trick it out a bit!!

Hi everyone,

Just purchased a 2010 SL AWD Wicked Black w/leather (grey) and moonroof packages. Didnt have much time to shop around, as my previous car was totaled, but definitely wanted something for the winter. I guess the Rogue did it for me

I have been reading in the forums for close to two years now and recently registered. I have had my Red 2008 Rogue S for two years and 44,000 miles. I have enjoyed it, but there are few options I wish I would have gotten, but I am cheap so sometimes you have to make tough decisions

I recently got the transmission update and it is like driving a new car compared to how sluggish it was.

Hello, I just purchased a 2010 Rogue 360S AWD in Silver. I pick it up on Monday after work and can not wait. I looked at several crossovers from other manufactures and liked the Rogue the best.
