I'll be the first to facepalm myself if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
I really wish you didn't have to facepalm yourself.

I drove a rogue for quite a while the other night. It really wasn't bad. Nissan really DOES make one of the best CVTs. I realize that's not really a compliment but hey...
Had you not added the disclaimer sentence, I was gonna sugget having the best CVT, is like choosing Rosie O'Donnell in a beauty contest because her ankles were nice. ;) .

True. It's still "wrong tech" but it's sure a lot better than Chrysler's attempt. I'm unfamiliar with Subaru's and Toyota's CVTs, but I can't imagine them being remarkably good, either.

Nissan seems to be acting smug at the moment as people are buying those awful CVT's (well, except the crosscabriolet). But I think they're on borrowed time. Do you think enthusiasm still be there in a few years when today's lineup of boring CVT Nissan cars begin breaking after the warranty expires or in the case of hybrids when those expensive batteries and electical motors need to be replaced?

Heh. My parents were so lucky. I was happy as a lark to drive a BEAT '84 DeVille and a '93 Maxima. "Adultmobiles" were exactly what I was looking for. No being picky about cute or cool or any of that stuff.
Whole different matter shopping for cars for my sister. Plenty of reliable Mazdas and Hyundais turned down for a "cute" and "sporty" 2-door Mercedes tub of average. Ironic that the little 2-door is about 23% as sporty as my adultmobile.

MoD, you aren't the average person lol. In high school I wanted a loud sporty looking RWD coupe with some pep. sounds like you wanted a comfy, solid, car with power on tap and modest lines.
