SO MUCH WIN.

The Nissan experience is drawing ever closer to pulling up to the Krispy Kreme to find that the "HOT" light is off.

The hits keep on coming:

This really is indefensible. I keep hoping someone at Corporate will pop up on the forums and shout, "April Fools!"

Honestly I'm surprised that the Cross Cabriolet is selling so poorly.

There are just MILLIONS of upper-middle-class suburban moms with plenty of disposable income and absolutely zero car sense. Why wouldn't they line up for curb-climbing 5ft. of clearance AND a drop top, without those annoying inconveniences of many convertibles such as responsive steering, stiff suspension, and engine noise?

The problem just comes down to pricing.

Moms are buying Honda Crosstours for less than 45k, and BMW X3's for over 45k

The price is a huge detraction, plenty of other things for the same amount of money. If it were say 30k they would sell out

LOL

It appears Nissan is following the old adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity. The cross-cabriolet has already established itself as this decade's Pontiac Aztec. But I'm curious how many 2014's they'll actually build (and let sit beside the dust covered unsold 2012's sitting at dealerships) before they realize how foolish they look.

Bubba, I'd gladly own an Aztec instead of a Crosscabriolet. Now, if they made an Aztec Cabriolet then I would know that there is no God.

At the least the aztec was useful for something besides being ugly.. Besides being hiddeous it was at least useful as a vehicle.. The cross cabrio sucks at being an SUV/crossover AND sucks at being a convertible.

The only thing it is good for is something for idiots to waste money on and looks stupid while they're driving in..

I think I might rather drive the infamous "sawzall-tima" than a cross cabrio.. +1 for anyone who remembers the sawzalltima...

Right after I threw up in my mouth I was able to salvage my sanity. While wiping ugly induced stomach bile from my face I happened to glance at this little beauty sitting to the right of the article.

It was the mid 90s (?) Altima at Import Alliance in Nashville that had been crudely turned into a convertible with a sawzall.

Mods: Sawzall'd the roof off. The end. No re-enforcements, etc.

It was first seen at NOPI Atlanta, I think in 2006.. Had some sort of body kit too, and the doors scraped on the side skirts because the chassis was sagging so much...

And he wondered why we wouldn't give him space under the tent..

When Katrina and I were at the dealership yesterday, we walked the entire lot. I asked her to point out anything that she liked / disliked. Growing up in this house, she knows what's up. Cliff notes: she wasn't impressed.

Versa - didn't like the car, the interior, or the price tag
Sentra - it was OK
Altima - meh (translation: adult-mo-bile; however, she dodn't like the Alti coupe either)
Maxima - meh (same reason as Alti)
Z - Nice! However, she would have wanted a manual and both of the ones on the lot were automatics.
Frontier - Winner! Her favorite on the lot. There was a black 2wd crew cab on the lot that she fell in love with. It did, however, blow her mind that the dealership felt that they could charge $20K for a truck that doesn't even have an mp3 port. :chuckle:
Titan - too big
Armada - too big
Pathfinder - She really liked the new one. LOTS of leg room in 2nd row seating, unlike the Frontier.
Exterra - not a fan
Quest - adultmobile
Murano - FUGLY. Her words and she didn't abbreviate.
Rogue - OK.
Juke - Hates, hates, hates it. Said it looks like a creepy bug.
Cube - she likes it but she said she wouldn't buy one

Guess what she IS a fan of? The FR-S, the BRZ, the ST Hatch, the Mazda Speed 3 Hatch, and the 240sx (her favorite out of this list). Just like a lot of other 16-18 year olds just getting into the scene.

Just out of curiosity, was the Frontier a MY13 (with tailgate spoiler)?

I drove a rogue for quite a while the other night. It really wasn't bad. Nissan really DOES make one of the best CVTs. I realize that's not really a compliment but hey...
