Well I talked to the PDR (Paintless Dent Repair, aka. Ding King) guy at Nissan today, and he thinks he can get rid of the dents, and buff out most of the scratches... He's really cool, so he'll do that for next to nothing:) Since there's no real deep creases in the sheetmetal he should be able to get it out (there will still be afew light scratches that he can't get out, but it will be alot better than it is now for $50...

Obviously I'll wait till after the adjuster comes to look at it, and I'll still call camaro man to see if I can scare him into payment. Gotta head to class right now though, so more later.

what time is it???ITS HAPPY DANCE TIME PEOPLE!:fruit

The state farm insurance guy just left and you're not gonna believe this.

He cut me a check for a little over $700. He was quite possibly the coolest guy ever  He looked my car over and was so nice and seemed pissed that some dumba$$ would screw up such a nice car.

Anyways I really should scan in a copy of his estimate because its almost laughable. He put stuff like replace entire door (for a scratch but no dent) and replace antenna mast (WTF)??? He basically said to replace the entire driver side of the car and repaint it all  His total came to $1400. Both body shops I went to last week put the damage right at $800 including painting and fixing the other 2 dents on that side of the car (from past parking garage fun).

I should buy this insurance guy dinner or something because he wrote the check in my name and gave it to me on the spot! :D

SO NOW: I need suggestions...

1.) spend about $100 on PDR (paintless dent removal) and get 95% of the damage fixed and spend the rest on engine parts etc...

2.) get the car fixed 100% back to how it was (perfect)

Glad to hear ya made it out OK. Now as for the two options, it all depends on how bad those other dents are. Gots any pics?

OK took it to work saturday and was able to use the buffer to buff out all the other guy's paint off my paint, and the bumper is perfect. you can't even tell it was hit:)

The quarter panel I got off like 90% of the scratches and all of the other guy's paint, but if you look close enough you can still see some of the scratches (gotta be less than a foot away to notice) I will try buffing it again, but we ran out of the buffing compound, so I have to get more (there was only a little bit left in the bottle when we started) And the PDR guy says he can get it back to so flat you won't be able to tell it was ever hit for $50, which leaves me with $650:D

who's getting forged pistons:pface oh yeah

Congrats Sean. I'm glad it all worked out for you. As for my vote, get the pistons!

Told you so! And if you would have slipped him a fifty like I said, you would have gotten more. :)

So, do I get anything for giving good advice. :pface

My vote would be to put away half of the money for 'just in case x breaks' and spend the rest (or save to double that amount and get your pistons).

Actually, I'll probably be living in Orlando again soon (hopefully by 2005). I'd like to transfer back to UCF and finish school...we'd have the same major too. You're a M.E. major, correct? It really all depends on which law school my girlfriend decides to attend. If she's out of state, I'm going with her. If not, I'm going back to O-town. :) We visit there quite a bit though, so next time we go, I'll let you know. Oh, and don't worry, I won't hold you to the lunch! I was only kidding around.

I know Jspec. Not that I'm one to talk. Last time I checked my car has been 5 different colors for about 6 months...

yeah I'm ME right now, but I'm thinking of transferring to Engineering Technology Design & Operations after this semester. These theory classes are killing me (Solid Mechanics, Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics)! I hate just memorizing formulas and stuff like that:( I'm leaning towards ET because its more real world stuff... I'd love to design things, and I'd be more interested in the real production phase of design rather than all the mathematical analysis:)

definitely let me know the next time you come up here, we'll have to get together sometime!:)

I take it you have to be really smart to take those kind of classes right?

ehh, not really. you just have to work at it:pface I'm not all that bright IMO...

Engineering Technology is sort of a step down from Mechanical Engineering (what I am now). It deals with more real-world engineering (actually making products) whereas Mechanical Engineering designs alot of the mathematical/scientific aspects of a project. One is more theoretical, the other is more tangible:)

yeah all those equations and theories really suck.
