My story.....I'm an old f*art who grew up glued to the TV watching the space race in the 60's and early 70's. Living in SoCal in the shadow of all the aerospace companies (Aviation High School) I dreamed of being an astronaut but flunked out of UCLA trying to get an econ degree. I ended up at a chemical plant in NorCal making rocket fuel components and within a few years transferred to to the rocket side of the facility where we manufacture rocket engines, solid propellant boosters for satellite launches and many other specialized propulsion systems. I got my degree and am now a safety engineer and the company loadmaster. I'm not an astronaut but I do work with a lot of rocket scientists. It's a close second. I've gotten to travel across the country to different aerospace facilities and launch sites and it's been a great 34 year career. I can't think of anything I'd have liked to have done better (except be retired in 5 years).

Since he omitted all detail, it might be fun to try to guess.

Meh, thought I'd be an aerospace engineer, now I'm an IT major. I just want to start off as a Network or Security Admin. Screw helpdesk/tech support.

When I was little I wnated to be a teacher (original, right?). But then my mom became a substitute teacher and that went away. Then I wanted to be a professional skateboarder. Made amateur status, but then quit because I took up wanting to be a chef. Went to college for that and enjoyed it for a while and somewhere along the line after graduation decided I should be a dietician. Accomplished. Shortly after, the people (aka patients) drove me insane so I set sights on a similar career; food science.

I'm now in product development for a large seafood company where I'm 1. corporate chef 2. new product development for frozen products 3. sales (when I'm on the road with them to promote or give an ideation session with a customer or potential customer). I wear many more hats than a typical person in my position, but they're not worth going into detail over.

Oh, and I taught for a short stint at a vocational school while I was in school. In some way, I guess I've become what I've wanted to- aside from being a fighter pilot.

Just remember it's illegal to operate a motor vehicle with a GPA above 0.08.
