I believe you are 100% correct, they wouldnt sell a headlight like that, not DOT approved, but that does look like a spray on tintawesomenick wrote:do they sell headlights that dark? or maybe it's nightshades.
Funny, that's what my girl calls my koukizenkii wrote:bat mobile!!!!
but they do sell non DOT approved stuff. it would be for off road use only or something though. but those do kinda look like a one piece plastic cover.CleanSfourteen wrote: I believe you are 100% correct, they wouldnt sell a headlight like that, not DOT approved, but that does look like a spray on tint
Never been to California, huh? Nothing's legal there.kckouki wrote:Well I dont see anything on there about DOT stuff, but how do the cops know that it didnt come like that?
You would. It's not legal. No tint is legal on headlights/taillights. There is some stuff available for American cars (covers), but you can only drive with it on during the day. It is NOT DOT approved, trust me, lol. I was just at the CHP today, and read some booklets, from boredom. And kckouki, no car comes with dark headlights... Just FYI.240sx_ftw wrote:wont you get pulled over with tinted/smoked/yellowed headlights? so that overlay thing is not DOT legal is it?
they were black housing, not smoked lenses. lenses can NOT be modified legally. you can however, open up the housing and paint it black, white, whatever color you like. you cant alter the lense itself though.kckouki wrote:I never said that they did. I said how do they know that they didnt.
Plus I know some mustangs came with smoked headlights from the factory.
Trust me, these days they know everything. And if they don't, they will give ya a ticket.lucky7 wrote:

i put black HOUSING headlights on my civic. does not affect light output, just changes the look.i just think you are confusing the 2.
True that, but if you know how to play, you can survive. And i could not care less about some smoked headlights. It's just MO. I go for performance, and just a little bit for looks. And i would never move anywhere from Kali. Well, maybe Hawaii, but just maybe.lucky7 wrote:i am seeing the beauty in not living in southern california. our family took a detour. instead of moving from cincinatti to la jolla, we moved to oakland michigan. i assumed it couldnt get any worse.. yet, the 3 cars ive owned here, ive never been bothered about mods or anything. it really is a mod friendly state. RB swap, no catalitic converters, no exhaust decible ticket crap. nothing like that. the only thing we get hassled about is the front 2 windows being tinted too dark, and headlights/tail lights burnt out. no emmissions requirements, etc. i drive little ricer cars, nobody knows what the hell they are around here. its freaking funny. just my little feel good rant. haha. just saying, i know for a fact i could get away with driving with those headlights around here, thats all.
