Hey guys. About 10 minutes ago I did a compression test on my SOHC and was wondering if these were decent numbers.

1- 125 2- 123 3- 122 4- 126

I was thinking about turboing it within maybe a year or more. How are these numbers, and if they're low, can you give me suggestions to make them better.

I just read my chilton's maunal and figured out that we did it wrong. I didn't warm up the engine. It has only 60K on the rebuild so it should be fine. Oh well rookie mistake, (my first compression test) I'll do the test again and post the numbers.

We haven't gotten to it yet because we're probably going to have to pull out the transmission and rebuild it cause it's pretty worn. And now it looks like we might have to pull the motor and rebuild it too. Kinda weird because the previous owner said it had 60K on the rebuild, but the rebuild was from the owner before him. Who knows. Anyways, it's not that bad because we were thinking of going KAE-T, so at least we can do it right. Just in case you wondering, I did the compression test agian and the numbers were around 135 all around (give or take around 3).

When your doing your test, are you holding the throttle wide open when cranking? If your not you will not allow the proper amount of air to get into the cylinder, thus the out-come will be an incorrect number.
