Theres a gazzilion different brands and types out there, but are they all just as good as eachother?

I found some NISMO ones for $100, much cheaper than the Stillen and other brands I've seen. Do they all basically do the same thing or is it worth paying more?

All are better then stock ground points. Some are beter then others. Some have more grounding points.

They all do the same thing, its just how many wires there are and how much research has gone into it. All should be made from 99.99% pure, oxygen-free copper. Some like to use gold-plated terminals because of the notion that gold is a better conductor and transfers signals better, but copper terminals are ideal in this situation (gold is better for things like audio applications).

Hahahaha

I've been super busy this past weekend. Two birthdays and lots of other fun stuff.

Grounding kits are DEFINITELY not all the same.

The ones to stay away from IMHO are the Stillen and Most of the cheapo eBay ones. Why?

Stillen:

They use 8 gauge instead of 4 gauge wire.

The only incorporate 6 grounding points when there are a total of 11

They use gold plated terminals which can suffer from a "skin" effect. Only the gold transmits a signal and the rest of the terminal is useless.

Instructions are horrible

They leave out the ECU and Transmission points which make a HUGE difference.

Pricing isn't that great for what they're offering when you do the comparison.

As for the eBay kits.

Most of them are generic. This means, they don't come with instructions (I spent the better part of 2 days writing mine).

They're designed with a central hub and a bunch of wires that YOU are left to attach anywhere and everywhere.

The central hub has the potential to actually add more noise back into the system.

Also, take this into consideration. Some of those eBay kits are going for $5. The raw copper cost more than $5. I'm not talking about the wire, I mean just the raw materials cost more than $5. So what kind of wire are they using?

Grounding Gear is probably the only other company that I would suggest if for some reason you didn't want to buy my wires.

They use 4 gauge instead of 6, 8, or 10 gauge wire. The kit designs are pretty good (though I don't like exactly how they do things) AND they incorporate the ECU and Transmission points into their systems.

What I don't like about them:

They don't debadge their wires, so you see logos, wire information, ft marks...etc on the wires.

They leave out a few factory ground points.

Their prices are higher (than mine)

Getting a hold of them can be a pain (many of our member have had issues contacting them for prices)

They only accept checks? I think that's what I read. I do paypal or checks or cash if you're local.

Shipping has reportedly taken 2 weeks. I send mine out 2-3 day priority mail with insurance and tracking.

The quality between my kits and Grounding Gears are the same.

Hope that sheds some light on the situation.

The wire is coated with tin or silver to improve it's corrosion resistance.

Copper corrodes slowly until you make it hot, then it speeds up. Tinned wire isn't necessary, but I personally include it in my kits for quality and longevity.

Beanoir (with a french accent)

Got the Overkill kit.

It basically includes every grounding point under the hood, the ECU, and the Transmission.

I just revised the kit a little and dropped the price. Same functionality, just less wasted wire.

I'm running the basic kit + 1 on my 05 6MT and I noticed a difference. Engine spools up faster which means I'm in the power band much sooner. My stereo (non-bose) sounds much better now, which made my wife happy since I was talking about upgrading hehehe.

Haven't really had a chance to do a fuel economy check because 2 weeks after I installed the kit, I got a new engine.

I think I got another MPG or two over the weekend, mostly hwy miles, but I can't say that it's the new engine or the wires.

Email me and let me know which one you want and in what color. Including a zip code helps to. That way, I can give you a price including shipping.

Unless you're out of the country, I send the kits Priority Mail with insurance and tracking. Usually take about 3 days to get to you.

Comes with detailed step by step instructions with TONS of pictures and any necessary replacement hardware (bolts).

My kit is half way between the basic and premium. I've been too busy with other people's kits to expand on my own.

Prices for the translucent black in the pictures:

Basic including shipping is $116

Premium is $141

I could probably have one built and out to you by Saturday (depends on our lovely post office).
