I ask because I know that the honda scene is very theft prone...like any upper model honda has a 99.9% chance of being stolen and stripped. I was wondering if 240's are anything like that. I plan on staying 100% stock on the outside but theives are making me scurred.

As of now I don't think so but seeing how the SR(what i want) and now RB swaps are taking off possibly in the future.

Theft is one reason I want to get rid of my Teg. I've been so worried that I have had nightmares of fighting thieves who are trying to steal it...definately not a good feeling to wake up to at night.

the most common way to steal a ricer:1) a towtruck...i dont know many ppl who do this. i knew 1 person who's group used one,but other than that....2) masterkeys. There are no 240 masterkeys that i've ever heard of. these are mostly for hondas and toyotas.

the only thing you gotta worry about is systems and rims or wings being stolen, but not the entire car itself. its not hard at all to pop a hood fromt he outside of the car and pull the plug on ur alarm, but if ur not ricing ur car out it should be safe.

My best tips are 1: don't let ppl get real close with ur car if u dun know them, u kno, dun let them check out the wiring and alarm and wheel wells an stuff.

2: if u got a system... never bump ur system within 2 or 3 miles of where ur gonna park, and never bump in in ur neighborhood or sumwhere u regularly park.

If ur still worried, check out lowjack...(is that how u spell it? lojack maybe?)

I would get two kill switchs for the car if you are afriad of you getting stolen, one kill switch if finds it it wouldnt work and he will think that the car is broken or something

If someone wants what you have they are going to take it no matter how hard you try to avoid it, I have a buddy who had a club on his car. the whole car was stollen and when found every thing had been stripped but the club had not been touched they used a trailer and just pulled it on with chains and drove off.

Theifs will steal stuff from any car. Just dont be stupid and do stuff like park it by the side of the road so you can show off your rims while you're sleeping. You gotta live with these idiots, just dont live scared.

People who steal cars and car stuff deserve to be dragged down the highway by their nutsack at 65 mph.

The only way you can avoid a thief steeling your car is by getting a boot, a kill switch, an alarm, and the pedal lock(the one they advertise on TV which gos on the pedal and locks it). That avoids any possibility of it getting towed away or stolen.

Insurnace. My friends Civc hatch is decked out and he checked with his insurance before modding. They told him as long as he had pictures and I believe receipts, that he would get reimbursed. I will change my insurance if I have to, but all my **** is going to be covered. Especailly since I plan on moving back to Cali

I don't know how to protect you from breaking in windows or anything, but I'm looking into the alarm systems that disconnect somthing in the motor (I forget what, the fuel pump if I remember correctly) when the alarm is going off. That means the car isn't going anywhere, and you (or sombody in your neighborhood) will be awakened by the alarm. Fortunately, I'm blessed enough to live in a low- crime neighborhood, except for my child molesting nextdoor neighbor.

i am sorry but the club is a joke it is for people that are amatures all the theft have to do is cut the steering wheel and slide it off, and if you have an aftermarket steering wheel and have been scoping your car they'll buy one and unscrew your steering wheel and replace it with theirs

i've seen honda civics stripped to the bare metal overnight in da bronx, esp if you park underneath elevated traintracks...

My car was broken into 2x but wasn't taken d/t an alarm, steering wheel club w/ 'the shield' and the infamous autolock on the clutch pedal.

1st time, the thief knew what he was doing. Just pry the upper part of the window-rubber weatherstripping & slide a coathanger to open the manual door lock. Inside was cleaned out. but left the interior immaculate

2nd time, the thief damaged my door lock by popping the cylinder. That didn't work since it jammed the rod to open it. Soo, he just break the door glass... just for some toll change, since I replaced my audio system w/ a cheapo unit from pepboys. Moving outta the city in a year & back to south jersey.

I wasn't saying that using the club was a good or bad idea, I was just saying the people didn't even bother with it, they just used chains and pulled it in a covered trailer stripped the car motor and all and ditched it down the road, nothing is going to stop someone doing that other than maybe a 357 magnum.

Wire a hidden kill switch into the battery cable that goes to your starter and run it to the cabin, then hide it well. Get a REALLY loud alarm, padlock your hood shut (yes there are ways to do it...dont ask me how, it's my trick :D) and get the pedal thingy

Fuel cut switches are easy...you just put a switch inline with the power wire to the fuel pump...then hide it. Voila you have an instant fuel kill switch.

EDIT: for more details go HERE, I plan on doing that this week. You have to sign up to check it oug but it's worth it for protection for your car.

Can anyone offer me any tips on securing a drop top 240? I dont want to go ahead and pull the top up all the time because well the car just looks way better with it down. But i dont want my **** like stereo or system stolen. Also if i have a 4000 dollar engine i need some extra protection. Thats one of my big dilemmas right now weather getting a RB20 or 25 because there is a significant price diffrence and i just dont want to get it stolen.

also if you put the pedal lock on the clutch pedal wouldnt that just stop the whole car from starting?

or at least if you have a garage..put your car in there. or rent a storage place and store your car in there. sorry i'm not helping.

i got one! well i was cruisin' around north oxnard with my friend cuz she wanted to see her new house and we passed by this house with a camera in the front facing the cars on the drive way. my friend was like "look a camera" and i could barely see it from where it was hidden. so maybe you guys should put cameras in front of your place. most of the time the people who jack cars don't wear masks, i don't think. well just a thought.

if the car is dropped really low, its kinda hard to get chains and **** on it.tint windows if you got a lotta fancy **** inside.alarm system is a must.it may be wise to just stick with fixing up the engine instead of making it look good if you want to be safe

what you could try to do is do what those cops in s. africa do with their bimmers. they put a HEAVY metal bar on the side of the driver's floor so when the thieves come in to jack the car, the bar will bar will swing across to shatter the shin/ankle/toe/tiny dogs that are around there. . .

i think thats illegal in america though. read it in maxim

of course you can go to best buy and buy the battery that'll last 16 hours and the siren that'll pierce anyone's ears that're in the car with the matrix RS3 2-way pager thing. . . . thats what i got :D

Yeah the Integra was #1 stolen out of every 1,000 insurance claims(per capita??) I'm not sure how they got the 89 Camry as #1 but the Integra has been the #1 stolen for the past few years.

chains arent so bad if u drive on alot of flat surfaces when the ground clearance isnt that bad.tint, too dark a tint more than likely will draw the would b thieves scoping out cars to jack.alarm system with starter disable/ignition kill.i used to have that on my teg before, any smart and knowledgeable thief can simply rip off the wires and rewire everything to start the car.that happened to me.my car wasnt riced out or anything.jus a drop and exhaust from what u can see on the outside but the thief still managed to get away with my car.

my best bet since i got my 240 was jus to leave it plain looking.the tint is faded and its got some decent rims and an exhaust.only thing i got for it as far as security goes is an alarm and an autolock
