I got pulled over last week becuase of my tinted windows (more like spray painted black:D <~it's not but it sure does look like it) but anyways
the CHP also gave me another ticket for "loud noise from exhaust"
the noise from the exhaust on any car under 6000 punds must be 95dbA or less...
I just got mine tested (which was free BTW at the state referee) and I didn't pass because my avg was 100 dbA over 3 tests done at 4200 RPM...
I am going to get a hold of some silencers and then hopefully I will pass since it says that the silencer will quite the exhaust noise up to 7 dbA's so hopefully that works if not then I will have to switch it out for stock untill i pass....
this is just for people who have Apexi or any other aftermarket exhaust and want to know what happenes if you get pulled over...
let me know if you have any more questions...
I assume it would be the same for N1 single on both S13 ands S14... I dont see what the diff would be...

Can you west coast guys just buy/make 1 really quiet exhaust (from rear axle back) and just swap it from car to car when you get busted and have to go get tested? As long as you use a solid (overlapping) clamping system you shold be able to achieve a good seal, and then you could just put on the "test passing" end for the CHP'ers.

hahaha "replace the rice" funny you should say that.. but if I ever want to replace my exhaust which BTW us the best one I have ever had... it sounds so nice.. I think it got louder because of the removing of the cat.. oo well... I look at it this way...
I actually got off very good considering what else I had under the hood and all!!! tint and loud noise ticket is no big deal at all!!

1st ticket was signed off by CHP2nd ticket was dismissed because: - was signed off once before and is compliant [93-94db when tested by myself] - CHP & the Court kept sending me back and forth on where toget it tested.. finally called CHPHQ, who told me to call internal affairs.. big mess.. told the judge and she dismissed it.
It has to be 95dba or less between 3,000 - 5,000 and has to be 20 inches from the exhaust tip.

If they didn't test it in compliance with the guides mentioned in the bulletin, have it done again. The silencers should put you at 93, within the legal limit.

well i just think its hilarious that my dads Vrod with his new exhaust , and well any other harley, is WAY louder than any car i have ever heard on the road, but the cops never say anything to them... lol i dont think loud exhaust is too big of a deal over here in texas so im not too worried, but i dont want a super loud exhaust anyway...

this 95dbA sound level does not pertain to motorcycles... there is no laws for motorcycles and vehicle's over 6000 pounds!

Speaking of loud exhaust. Did anyone else see the RS-R exhaust that Phase2 is selling? It looks damn nice, no one has it, and it's supposed to be pretty quiet.
I really don't care about sound since my interior and engine bay are stripped, but I think that will be the exhaust I get.
The ExMag I think it's called? Exhaust Magic or some such *typical* Japanese name.
