The SRT-4 doesn't come with mufflers, but it sure as hell has a cat. converter, plus it's factory designed to be quieter. Besides, it's a turbo car, and turbo cars have a quieter exhaust note vs a n/a car with a catback.

Black240,what were you thinking by taking off your cat. converter? didn't you have a high flow one or not? :pface

i have a catco cat on my car, i happen to have a pacesetter catback (2.5" piping) that's been modified, the resonator was replaced with piping, and the crappy muffler was replaced with a stainless racing series magnaflow (pretty much a resonator) it's actually quieter at idle now compared to the original muffler, but it's a lot louder during driving, and it has a sweet *** note at high rpm.

But anyway, sorry to hear about what happened, i'm sure a cat and a apex'i silencer will help your troubles. Good luck! (or move out of CA ;) )

edit: my sig pic doesn't show the new magnaflow, that's the old dual muffler that sounded like crap, new sig pic will be added as soon as it freakin stops snowing.

apexi's are not full stainless. They are only stainless at the canister. The rest of it is regular steel.

And they're charging MORE than I charge for a FULL stainless system? And ours is hand-fabricated? With all TIG welding?

People keep falling for the advertising hype... Wish I could afford a few glossy full-color ads.

Does it matter if he can? There's no bling bling high gloss advertisement to back it up so what's the point? Who's going to know that it's good?

lol

i got a Apexi N1 single exhaust on a S13 coupe. i took the resenator off but kept the cat. if i take the cat off, would the car be louder and sound more aggressive? its not really that loud now! and would the car perform better, or will the car need its backpresser?

no not yet, im getting a camera soon. but the apexi N1 sounds deep and really nice for the KA. it gave me better high in power, and thats what the KA needs. my biggest gain was my gears of-course, but my header and pulleys was excellent. with my mods, it helps the KA in the 6000 to 6900rpm range.

Hey if you want a decent price for the rs-r exmag, check out http://www.modacar.com. No tax if you're not in CA. Remember, the ExMag is the quiet one. The ExMag GTII is pretty loud. I know form personal experience... :)

I say get the BRM and be done with it... If I was still in market looking for an exhaust.. I would go with BRM!

Hey Bean,

Thanks for the link! I'm having trouble deciding which exhaust to get. I think the Apexi Dual is really nice, but then I also like the RS-R exhausts. I plan on going turbo (either KA or SR) so I want to procure car parts with that in mind. I realize that with the stock KA, the low and mid torque and power are going to fall off with either of my exhaust choices.....but that should only be for a little while.

I guess it's all up to personal preference, so I might just go with the Apexi. Too bad a lot of people have it already!!

I never removed it.. it came off...;)

The one under the driver seat is a dummy one and the real one is on the header but when I swaped the engine, the header was replaced with DP and the DP has no cat! hence the louder tone...

anyways, I bought 2 silencers and am just waiting to get them in so I can go get it retested...
