Hey guys...I'm in love with the exhaust note on my G35 but it's a little too quiet for me at times. I want to amplify that sound maybe 2x. I don't want to put an aftermarket exhaust on because I know it will change the exhaust note. Or are there some aftermarket exhaust that have the exact same..or at least similar exhaust note?

I was cruising last night and this mustang pulls up beside me. His exhaust noise overpowered mine...and i was quite upset lol.

Record your exhaust and put some speakers in your windows. Should do the trick.

To me, the Stillen exhaust sound like stock, just louder. That's an option. I've been personally wanting to change mine, but can't see spending $1200-$1500 for a few ponies and a different exhaust note.

I have the Fast Intentions exhaust on mine. It sounds very close to stock until you let into it. Then it is game on. Still same stockish sound but 2x louder. At idle and crusing it is the same as stock.

To amplify the stock exhaust note...and keep it basically the same, you should add HFC. It will keep the overall tone the same, maybe a little deeper, but will make it much louder.

Its also, IMO, the best single way to increase exhaust flow. Great performance upgrade.

I agree with Nate... I think Stillen comes closest to stock sound but its so dam expensive. Maybe look into buying it used off someone..?

Just take your exhaust off...

Johnny law might have a problem with all the noise though depending on how cool the cops in your town are...

WOW izzue.hk!!!!! You're nismo exhaust is heaven-like! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Not too loud...but loud enough for my satisfaction. And it sounds very similar to the stock exhaust. How much is the nismo exhaust? How much was the CAI?

Oh the CAI was around $170. The camera I used was my sister's Canon Powershot SX200 IS

Wow I totally forgot about that too awdjdmtalon! haha That would probably be the cheapest way too! Do think replacing the muffler with a straight pipe would change the exhaust note at all?? Also, how much louder would this method get me? 2x??

yes thats the only way you will keep your same sound only to make it louder and will actually feel power gains, leaving everything else stock.

If I take the muffler off to amplify the sound....should I also take the mid pipe w/ resonater off as well, or do I leave that on? I want the exact same exhaust note, but I don't want to take the resonater off if it will distort the sound.

I ended up keeping it...

I loved the sound of the new exhaust but it was too loud... and then I had test pipe in but it rattled and i hatted that too!

So i have Headers, Stock Cats, 350zhr y pipe, COupe mid pipe and stock muffler... I have been looking for an HKS Muffler...

If you take the mid pipe off.. You will have essentially open Headers... and that is really loud... Trust me you need ear plugs to drive like that..

Get a after market muffler.. Like a nismo... But keep the stock mid pipe!

Thanks Tampa. I'll take your advice. Are are my options:

1. Leave on stock exhaust and take off the muffler.2. Nismo Exhaust. 3. Topspeed Exhaust.4. Stillen exhaust.

I wish I can hear the aftermarket exhausts in person..that would help me a lot.
