No you make it your b**** and destroy it...mine was in 5 different pieces when it came out. lol24j0hn wrote:so basically you just try to break it loose then pull it out
I broke the tool from auto zone, it's a real cheap tool. Best bet is to get that 3 arm puller, and soak it with pb blaster.Btw, to the op...The bearing your tryng to remove is the manual, and not the auto correct?tmwnn wrote:Do yourself a favor and rent the tool from autozone. Its FREE . You pay $40 and they refund you the money when you return it. I did it yesterday. It's my first time swapping a clutch, and it took me less than a minute to remove the pilot bearing. I don't even want to think of what a pain it would have been to remove the bastard without it while being cramped under the car
It's actually easier pulling the auto pilot out, then the 5 speed. With the auto, just spray it with pb blaster. Then grab it with a pair of vice grips, and have a bud spin the crank bolt. It will spin right out.killernoodle wrote:The thing in place of the pilot bushing from an auto KA is steel and usually impossible to remove, even with the special auto zone tool.
Its the biggest PITA we had doing his 5 speed swap.
I had to dremel my buddy's out.
What do you do with that tool? Shoot grease in there?Harman850T5 wrote:I'm in the same boat right now, I removed the auto pilot bushing with a pipe wrench and a breaker bar on the crank in about 5 minutes after many failed attempts with a pilot bearing removal tool. After that I found a manual one all beat up behind that.
Matco makes an awesome tool that our distributor says a lot of guys love, and I'll find out how I like it next Tuesday when it gets here.
It's Part#: CP55600
and a link for it http://www.matcotools.com/Cata...36678 it's on the top
Yea, you just screw it into the pilot bearing, then hook a grease gun up to the grease fitting and have at it.driftneil wrote:What do you do with that tool? Shoot grease in there?
Yes, it shouldnt take more than 30 seconds to remove with a slide hammer and appropriate end piece, no other tools required.LeD ippen wrote:I used a small slide hammer :X came out in a few hits.
