There's nothing wrong w/ going ka-t, the only reason why there are a lot of blown ka-t is because most of the guys that go ka-t rush and dont put enough money in the tuning/cooling components. Heres a few thing that is better for the ka: bigger displacement 2.4L>2.0L, ka's will make more hp/torque than sr20 that is psi for psi. ka's have iron block meaning a little more heavy but stronger than aluminmum. i made 247whp 241wtq on a stock t25 @ stock 7-8psi boost. tuned by a afcneo. w/ a built block you can boost up to 20+psi and it will be bullet proof thats assuming the tune is really good. If you havent already, check out Ivans ka-t on youtube.com or amsperformance.com

I also have a friend that argues w/ me about going ka-t, One thing i notice that these people dont know anything about ka-t. You can go faster than a sr w/ about the same amount of money and still be reliable.

What year&major are you? If you need any help w/ your build you can email me at [email protected] we can meet up.

still waiting to get more money to pay for labor to do the motor build. as soon as i get the car done i will hit up guys up. Riley used to work with me and got me and my bro into the drifting. Honestly the car have too much money put into it so dont know if we want to drift it and crash(usually happens for beginners). Maybe when i finish college and get a real job.

Anyone knows the difference between the gt35 ball bearing turbo and the gt40 besides the hp difference on jimwolftechnology.com.For example, yes the 40 is more hp but which one spolls faster? It doesnt say on the site i dont think.Or if anyone knows a good turbo that spolls at about 3 but that can handle 450whp easy?

Only thing i can find is that the bigger one holds more hp but the other one holds just a little less but spools faster, and doesn`t say how much faster or when. But yes i guess i do have to do more, i`ll have to call the place or something

I'm planning on transferring this fall to cal poly pomona and I'm majoring in mech. engineering also!

If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in pomona with my ka-t (i'm scared for it getting stolen )

Sounds good, ka-t comin together. i just saw your other thread for track time. looks good man, hopefully we can have a meet at cali spdway.

cal poly isnt that bad w/car theft, just make sure you have good alarm, club, lock for clutch pedal. The only bad place is pomona, but on campus it should be safer.

my friend helped me out and we created a vacuum in the egr system while smoggin it and it passed. im pretty sure my egr is bad.

as for smog with a ka-t? i have no clues yet. im almost done with my set-up...

where are all the other ka-t's at?

i just need to get the ecu tuned and ill be going ka-t!

You wont pass smog going ka-t in cali. you wont even pass visual inspection, the only way is to cheat. If you are asian and the smog people are asian then most of the time they will deal with you.

hehe find those smog shops that have the beater rx-7's, 240's, etc. parked out front and you know they are willing to bend the rules lol

I took my all my boosting parts off and threw all my stock crap back on last december and my car passed smog, then I threw all the parts back on a wk later

Do any of you guys know if that greddy kit will still pass smog?

i really dont know but i think it would. most of greddy's turbo kits are carb legal but i really dont know.

i think without the front mount it would?

i don't think a front mount would pass visual..but there was a CARB legal greddy ka-t kit that got discontinued and I heard somewhere that it isn't even smog legal anymore. CARB legal turbo kits usually have about 5 psi of boost and give you 50 hp anyways....lame
