Your new exhaust? Nice choice on Magnaflow btw, that's what I had on my Civic, not buzzy at all, just mellow and throaty. The last muffler with the dual tips is EXACTLY what I want on mine. Nice X over too. How's it sound? Gotta get some sound clips up for our aural pleasure!!

Greg wouldn't go with Magnaflow when he owns BRM would he?

That, my friends, is the mockup of the BRM catback for the 90-96 Q45. The particular Magnaflow units we selected flowed the best of all the ones we selected without sounding crappy.

This one, thus far, is as quiet as stock at idle, with a healthy, throaty roar at WOT.

Should have pricing, dyno #'s and availability in approx 10 days.

Not yet.

I'm learning a valuable lesson here - Don't believe the demand for something (six 4.08 rearends later).

I probably won't be paying for a jig to be built for anything new for awhile. We're going to have to recoup expenses for the header and catback jigs first.

Be sure and check for differences in the passenger side of the exact cat output position on 90-93 and 94-96...........last time I tried to fit a 95 oem exhaust to my 90 I had to weld a short extension on passenger side oem exhaust ........differences in cat length if I remember correctly. Hopefully I'm wrong.

You can never make a profit if you don't sell 50 @ $695 plus shipping.

Please drill the model and make after cat back pressure two sets of measurements at 4,000, 5500, 6500, 6900 rpm [both sides] that way we can compare with oem.

Remember to fit an oem 20 mm rear bar and make room for a 24mm.

car has not been "bent" "hit" etc.

car already has "20mm rear sway bar"

sound/video clips soon to follow and only they can "truely" describle the sound and look

the feel??? Well something that you will have to experience for yourself and make your own opinion

back pressure measurements??? Well I will leave this one to the expert, Q45tech, to measure if we ever get a car with this system on it to T3

vibrations??? none and actually my OEM exhaust had a small vibration that nobody could locate that is now all gone....

wait just a second.. if you have 2 magnaflows under the car, why do you need a 3rd muffler at the rear?

Wrong. Rob Siwicki's black 95 Q45t.

Because 4.5 liters needs a little more sound abatement than the average four cylinder engine. Besides, it was a $54K car, it's gotta be quiet.

You'll have to swap your own heat shields. Not much need, as the thicker walls should be sufficient.

And I don't know where $695 came from, but that's not set in stone. Hell, the costs of the jig-building alone make Dennis's statement fairly prescient.

Well Tech, just to be sure, I'm making a formal offer of a drive to SoFla for a test fit on my 91.

:D

Greg?

Ahem.

Greg?

Nice looking piece, those are the mufflers Tech said they liked from many different systems they tried?

How did they determine the location of the X?

No one ever advertises the back pressure because no one [layman] understands the physics and its relationship to sound.

http://www.thrashercharged.com....shtm

Roughly each 0.5 psi is a HP lost...............just bare straight 2.5" pipe [WITHOUT ANY MUFFLERS] will have a 1.0 psi loss ~~ 2hp

I am sure that we will get my car up to T3 to meet the great mighty Dennis and T3 late this summer. Should be do for 30K checkup and plenum job and a good look over to make sure all "i & t" are dotted and crossed.

For all interested, these are the exact mufflers that Dennis recommends and the last muffler is as Dennis said "truely a very free flowing 2 in 2 out muffler with separate chambers". I could see straight through each pipe and there was about a "clear" 1.5-2 inch diameter straight down the center of each tube in the last muffler.

X-pipe was tested in 3 locations, attempted to select a position which created the least pressure as measured a foot rearward - no appreciable differences noted.

Sound quality was critical as well - X-pipe tends to create a "higher" exhaust note that an H-pipe, so location was considered for the sound as well - Fortunately, the first position tried was the best for sound.

Shields serve as an decoupled (intermediate) air-cooled non-conductive device to prevent (even more) heat from radiating onto the floor pans and thus into the cabin.

Is it just me being subjective, or is the side of my console less warm with the transmission cooler? Any one else?

You are correct in that.

My point was, you're welcome to swap out your heat shields, however, given the condition of many of them after 10-15 years, and the noise they create as they deteriorate, it's just not worth it.

Many here have tried to correct a noisy heat shield only to become frustrated and rip the damn thing off. It's impossible to track down certain sounds, especially since one can't be under the car in real-world conditions at speed.

My A/C works sufficiently well to overcome 122 degree heat - I don't think anyone here outside of AZ can relate.

p.s. Again, keep in mind we are using a thicker walled tubing than stock.
