What is it you are doing? I live right outside Chicago, where exactly are you going to be at in Indiana? I'm interested.

Well, im doing plenum, knock sensors, hoses (maybe) and valve covers..... Ill be in a small town near Ft Wayne (Lake Wawasee in case anyones been there)....

This job would go REALLY fast with 2 people..... One could be taking stuff apart, and the other going crazy at the parts cleaner!!!! My last resort is hire my brother, but I dont wanna do that......

Buy me a plane ticket and a new girlfriend (after this one dumps me for leaving her the day after Christmas) and I'm there. :D

The same girlfriend for whom you were auditioning J30s? Dump'em before Christmas so you don't owe them a gift.

Elwesso, we were both on the phone with Joe the same day, he asked me if I knew you. We're doing exactly the same stuff, too bad we don't live closer. Make sure you got everthing you need first time, Joe mentioned I was ordering more parts than you. I am determined to replace EVERY freakin thing under this plenum on one trip. I got a nice complete list going after spending hours searching here and a looong talk with Joe. Happy to share the list with ya. Let me know. Lee

Sadly no... I've never been able to get her interested in the J30. She says it "looks like a bubble" and she wants something new. I think the J30 looks a helluva lot better than her 93 Mercury Tracer. I've got to say I don't know how it's still running at 165K. I think it's the original automatic transmission with factory fluid. I'm afraid to look at the dip-stick.

I've even offered to let her use "Q1" but she says it's too big (not true) and that I'd kill her if she didn't keep it clean, wouldn't pay to maintain it to my standards, or wrecked it (true).

Good news is that she loves the G35, so once she has some student loans paid off maybe I'll be drivng one of those on the weekends.

Q45viper- Most people replace the radiator and heater core hoses at this time, but i opted not to since you dont need to have the plenum off to do it!!!!!

If youd like, you can compare your list to mine.....

I can't visualize how the heater hoses can be replaced without removing the plenum, I could barely do it with the plenum off!

Hey Wes, have you posted this yet in the Indy Meets thread? You may get more response from people there who are able to help. You may just want to make a new separate post in the meets section. Just a thought.

Alrighty, Ill do that..... Id like to have someone that has done stuff like this before, and ideally with someone that has worked on a Q before....

911- I guess im taking a crap shot with the heater hoses..... And I see what you mean; nearly impossible to replace with the plenum on..... Oh well, cant suck up paying $70 for 2 pieces of rubber..... Im sure Ill be eating my words later!!!!!

Yeah, just do like Anand and call it "NICO Winter Tech Day Meet 2003" or something like that. It got me to show up. Sure sounds better than "Get-sweaty-and-dirty-fixing-my-car day". :pface

Seriously, we all had a great time. I wish I wasn't so busy so I could attend more meets and hang out with the SoCal crowd more often. Hopefully you get a great turnout--don't forget to designate one person as the photographer/notetaker for your write-up.

here in dallas we have "Mod Meets" all the time, we go to a guy's house and do whatever mods and maintenance people need done, sometimes several cars at once. the guy's mom usually cooks up some good food for us and there's always plenty to drink.

i REALLY wish i could bring my Q out there wes. i just bought those two KS'ers off ebay and would love to dive into that pesky plenum!!!!(not really, but it needs to be done.LOL). i just found out i do have access to a heated garage, if i want to tackle the job myself. that will depend on how it goes with yours and how detailed you can track your plenum job (so a dimwit like myself can attempt it).

does anyone know what kind of labor hours is needed for a plenum removal, hoses and KS'ers replaced, assuming it's an infiniti tech????? if i choose not to do it, will probobly take her to keith vanmeter.but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i wonder how long it would take to drive to Indiana...........

From where you are, it will take about 9 or 10 hours, which is just getting warmed up in a Q...... If I could stay awake long enough, I think I could drive across the contry nonstop (except for food and bathroom breaks)....

Also, I think its gonna be a good 10hours + to do everything that would need to be done.... Chances are the techs wouldnt clean the plenum, IAC and all the other stuff that needs to happen.... So that even adds more time....

I also wanted to add..... This is an open shop, so if anyone wants to have some work done on their car, thats fine too..... Depending on how I can organize it, we can get 2 cars inside the shop at one time....

Send out a reply when you start working on the valve covers. I hope to dive into at least the drivers side on my '95Q by mid-January.
