I was just wondering if anyone raced a stock Srt-4. If so what was the outcome. I know this guy that has one and he talks so much **** aboout beating everyone he races. I really just want to shut him up. I know the turbo neons are fast but stockcan't be too hard to beat.

Dont worry a lot of SRT-4 owners are like that, they all think they have a fast car, in the end its still a neon.

Stock for Stock Neon will win, they do like 240bhp while a stock CA does 175bhp on factory tune.

As other have stated, stock for stock, you'll get spanked.

Yeah I know it has a good 240hp. I was just wondering with it being Fwd what power would be needed to just bust it up off the line. I just want to get the jump on him then let off the gas. would 240hp in Rwd with VLSD be faster than Fwd, or would it be about the same? I know alot is determined by the drive but I'm thinking with equal skill.

I don't think so I see him in Greensboro. It's a stock black neon with an intake.

His name is Thomas. He's cool I joke with him when I see him. I'm not sure if he goes by another name or not.

The guy I know talks about racing his car too. I would have been funny if they were the same guy. Take your rides to Piedmont Dragstrip. You will definately beat him in the 1/8 mile with all his wheel hop

I HAVE an SRT-4. its pretty fast but its no godsend. on the highway is where it makes most of its wins. mine does low 12's in the 1/4 mile. i make about 320hp and 420lbs of tq on the stock turbo (with lots of mods). the reason i don't like the SRT is cause FWD is not very fun. but stock is not that fast (and by fast i mean 14.0's in the 1/4) and the handleing sucks. but if you get a heavy modified one be careful. the stock block can stand up to 500hp if done right.

Yes i know its a Neon, thats why its my daily driver, a very fast daily driver but still not fast enough to be my race car. It handles well when you have full tein suspension and swaybars and such but so will any car that you have tossed $$$ at. I personally have not raced any CA18DET but we can bench race and put timeslips down just kidding... BTW i don't race my SRT anymore, I just have fun with it until i can get the 510 up and running

Edit: Spelling and Grammer > Neon Owners so please don't hate

btw my timeslip looks something like this:on a small set of crappy drag radials

best time:60' 1.905330 5.3321/8 8.130MPH 87.441000 10.5421/4 12.371MPH 110.51

best trap speed:60' 1.930330 5.3831/8 8.171MPH 87.921000 10.5681/4 12.485MPH 111.22as you can see i have alot in the back end.

I have a whole bunch more mods now and slicks that would put me in the High 11's but i am selling those slicks off

Thanks. i do have to admit i was partly sponsored and my car is the black one on this website http://www.pt-performance.com I get all my parts at cost. including my CA18DET stuff. like my pauter rods and my pistons and everything else that i am ordering. See not all SRT guys talk crap, but i will say the majority of them do talk alot of crap. I will say they have AMAZING gearing. its like they built this car for the 60-120 freeway race. so like i said be careful on the freeway.

Yeah those numbers are nice. I wish you were in Greensboro and could pull up beside him with your neon. I Love to see people at level 1 get around people at level 3+ they just fold up. Sometimes people just need to be taken down a notch

do your benchracing math first

get your torque numbers for both enginesand remember that the neon is in the neighborhood of 700-800 lbs heavier

with modest lightening, a 2700ish s13 can get down a hundred or so lbs (silvia front, sound deadening remove/replace, bumper supports, ribbing from hood/trunk) without looking any differnt, or giving up creature comforts (minus AC for even more)

if you really want to spank cars with a modest engine, considering equalish drivers, start with a lighter car (510, e86, miata, Wseries... maybe even s12)

persoanlly, i move a far into 'fast car' status, once its reached a 1ft-lb/10lb or better ratio (so you would need ~270 ft-lbs for most of your powerband in an s13) and has tires to get the traction

but then again, i need an abacus when i play blackjack, so dont listen to me

get with this guy, I believe he is in your area. they are doing some awesome things with the SRT-4. Twin turbo set up. Darrel Cox Racing is a TOP NOTCH engine builder and comes out with 500+ hp SRT's. Looking for a few more of his builds, i will have a pic or two soon.

well here are some of the things taht Darrel Cox does

http://www.srtforums.com/forum...82197^That is his 8-9 second (it may be faster) FWD SRT powered drag car

http://www.srtforums.com/forum...73517

http://www.srtforums.com/forum...73655

and the last two are his manifolds. so yes there is alot of nice aftermarket support for the SRT. And i believe these guys are in your area... Just a warning

I know about him. Never met him but in Greensboro when someone does something "BIG" word moves fast. I'm smart enough to choose my battles and know when to But thanks for the warning

My CA S13 can run with my freinds SRT-4 but this kid spins through gears, rev's too high and dumps it and misses gears alot, just a stock SRT and my CA isnt too far from stock but he cant drive for his life so.

So how is it from a dead start?

stock from a dead start sucks balls. wheel hop and bad tire spin is a good way for them to break. now if you have some of the right mods to prevent wheel hop like i do you can pull off some 1.8 60's like i have on drag radials. but i have also known some guys (the more senior guys) to pull 2.0 on street tires. THATS IMPRESSIVE. its all about who you run and if they know how to drive thier car

I raced my buddy's stock srt4 against my poorly running ca18det s12. On the 8th mile he barely nudged me out, on the freeway he destroyed me. Good luck

Either the RSX isn't stock, or the SRT-4 driver wasn't racing/was an idiot.

The HP to weight ratio's are close, but the SRT-4 has GOBS more torque.

I would get smoked if someone capable was driving, im shure, but when he just gets mad wheel spin and drops the bomb from the rev limiter, and I do a decent start I get up on him. This kid cant drive so I cant even pride myself that I could beat his SRT-4...
