I just found this forum on another forum that I visit regularly and noticed a bunch of new Pathfinders that I'd never seen on the other Nissan boards (AC, NPORA, etc.). There's a ton of good information that I'd never seen anywhere else. Does anyone offroad thier Pathfinders over here? I'd really like to see some pictures of some R50s (96-04) that I'd never seen before.

Funny, I spent last night reading about Pathfinders. I think the first gen's body on frame makes it a better off roader. They were built from 86-95. The 90-95 models had the KA24E or VG30E. There are plenty of swaps to give it more power. A VH45 swapped from the Q45 would make a nice mini Armada.

Does anybody make a lift kit for it? I'm gonna check out NPORA...

Here are a few random pics...The R50

The original WD21

The newest Pathy

And welcome to NICO!

If you're looking for a rockcrawler, don't go for a unibody vehicle like the R50 or Jeep Grand Cherokee... but honestly, it does fine offroad.

I get little body flex even with a full load on one wheel climbing a wall. . I stopped and opened my doors, and it was rock solid... with that said, suspension lift is the only way it can be done.

WD21 is def. better if you want a vehicle for offroad primarily, but the R50 is no slouch. The on-road dynamics are actually very good -- I was going to buy the thing before I even drove it, but I was highly impressed with the road manners... I don't miss driving my 240sx so much

Not an action shot, but here's my ride when I got it two months ago :o

Thanks for the responses. I didn't mean to sound like such a new guy to the R50s. I'm familiar with the way they're built and I'm actually working on a 4.5" lift for them. Mine's a little different than most I've seen on this site. Here's my rig at the moment:

I found NPORA but what is AC? Your Pathfinder looks tough. I have a QX4 that I would like to mod slighltly. Can you give me an idea of how tough the ifs is to lift. There rear could be lifted a couple inches with coil spacers I assume.

Welcome aboard

Thanks for the compliments! Everyone on this board seems nice unlike a few of the others.

I've done quite a few little things to it, but big mods are an ARB Sahara Bar, custom 4.5" lift (built by me, check out my site at pradolifts.com), OME 1" lift springs, custom 5.5" rear springs, 35" TrXus MTs, etc.

To be honest, the front really isn't that difficult to lift. If you haven't already seen them, Old Man Emu and AC (4x4parts.com) both offer lift springs. OME's are about 1", AC is more like 2-3". The lift that I built for mine is an actual subframe drop so you don't gain any travel up front, but you gain clearence for bigger tires.

My lift isn't quite for sale yet since it's still in the "testing" phase, but check out the forums on my site at Pradolifts.com for a bunch of information on it. I don't mean to detract any interest from this site, there's just 30+ guys with newer generation Pathfinders and QX4s over there and a lot of knowledge.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try and help as best as possible.

Tyler

AWESOME!!! Welcome to NICO. First time I've seen an 01+ offroad. Looks excellent. I also really dig the pop-up tent.

Wish I had more places to go here. . we have parks with trails, and the closest is Badlands Off-Road Park, but nothing else really..

Also, great to have representation from other parts of the world.

[/quote] Here in America (I say that because I dont know if its different elsewhere) the term "body lift" means putting spacers between the body and the frame. Infiniti QX4 is a unibody construction; it lacks a frame. That's part of the reason why the QX4 drives so comfortably. The closest you can come to a body lift is a front subframe lift, with longer springs in the rear: This is not commercially available in USA! Try Japan, called "MUD JAYSON" You can get a 2" suspension lift (springs) at http://www.4x4parts.com

Whoa never heard of Mud Jayson... sucks that we live here sometimes. Maybe our new member can find a source in Taiwan and hook us up -- excellent opportunity to make some money there sir.
