i knew i didnt have the same turbine flange as BD turbos so I just had him send me a downpipe without a turbine flange on it. I put the manifold on the car as well as my turbo with turbine flange in place. I made lil marks with a marker on the flange and on the pipe to have reference points. I took it off the car and then had it welded based on those reference points. After I got it back, everything was just fine. Bolt holes were easy to access. The bolt holes for turbine flange with 3" downpipe are very close but quality parts like this are handy:http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLG

I had a revhard manifold before, with a downpipe I built running to an sr20det downpipe (my midpipe), which bolts to the exhaust. To run this boost designs downpipe, I hacked my sr20det downpipe (midpipe) apart to run to the BD downpipe. If you know where the sr20det downpipe terminates, it needed to be 4-5" shorter, ~2" to the passenger side, and at a different angle. Rather than meeting about parallel to the ground, it meets at about a 45* angle with the ground.Again.. lots of fabrication.-Jeff
all that work to just get it connected to the cat.............makes me wonder if its worth even gettin the bd or even turbo the ka anymore

Any competent exhaust shop can make a custom pipe. I had no problems getting mine made.

so now i need to find out what flange is on the garret gt32 variant that phatka-t sells. sounds like a bunch of BS to get the piping made up especially if you want to have a cat. Downpipe-->midpipe-->cat-->exhaust

connecting the downpipe to a cat isnt to big of a deal. You can have them make your BD downpipe longer and have the flange it by the cat and will be like any other downpipe.

I'm in the same boat.I'm not sure I understand why its so difficult to swap flanges. Is the bolt spacing on the Ford 5bolt flange (the one not inlcuded with BD's DP) physically to big to fit a 3" pipe? Klattr, you said it was close, but it fit. You got any pics of this?

I think he meant the bolts are close to the pipe. He also left out information, like he ordered the pipe with no flanges on it, intending to run OPEN WASTEGATE and OPEN DOWNPIPE. This is not the intent of most users here. It will be daily driven, quiet, and closed-loop downpipe. So while he could bolt up the flange, mark the pipe.. you CANNOT do that if you intend to have the downpipe end meet somewhere, or most importantly, intend to have the wastegate stay routed into the exhaust.

Now.. the Ford 5-bolt is SMALLER than the dodge 5-bolt. ATP now has http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLS , which they didn't have when I did this. That may make life easier, but seeing as it's a 1/2" flange, and the boost designs flange is 3/8", you still need to do some customization on the pipe. Maybe just not so much now. It still won't come close to bolting to the exhaust without making that midpipe, or hacking up the boost designs downpipe.-Jeff
