If a cop wants to look under your hood. They need a search warrant.

They might impound the car at the most while they try and get a warrant.

That's illegal and grounds for immediate legal action. Without a charge or some sort of correlation to a crime the vehicle can not be seized.

Besides, who the ***** do they think they are giving someone a ticket for an "illegal" engine? You don't see anone getting a ticket for putting a 350 in an S-10.

Cops can be selective in who they bother... and they are very selective usually based on your attitude.

in cincy ohio we have that e-check crap, they have very strict rules about it but never really inforce them.. my bros accord failed it b/c he didnt have the right gas cap for his car. but they passed him anyway. the guy told me "as long as there is something coming out the end of the muffler i'll pass you" i watched this thing on MTV it was called "true life:im a street racer" and they were in california and they showed the cops pulling these kids over and they gave them each numerous tickets for lowering illegal lighting performance parts etc. they said the center of your head light has to be at least 23 inches off the ground. on top of that they impounded their car for 30 days. and they got 8 points on there license for drag racing. on top of all the tickets. the cops dont care here as long as you have your seat belt on and weren't speeding..

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. Kinda falls under the "you-don't-have-to-get-emissions-testing-if-your-car-is-registered-in-another-state-but-you-still-live-here" rule I'd assume.

When you enter a state, you must abide by that state's rules and regulations. If you get stopped, I don't think they can impound your car because you're from another state, but they can give you hell and, most likely, tickets.

bah i dont care about it here, cops dont know anything about enginesthey ran a story on the news about neons and how they are illegal, wow.. now cops will pull over anyone with any sort of led on your carbut hey if they did discover that my engine is illegal i could be front page news for like a month
