What a way to lose. The Raven's kicker needs a lift home I think.

I think this game will be better than the commercials for a change.orangeNblue wrote:I think we will see a patriots team who comes out and goes to work on the Giants. I'm just hoping that the Pats defense shows up for the game.

Thats sort of the nature for any sport though. ALot of games, wins and losses, come down to one person and one play. The kicker is as important as the QB. But its probly true that they get the most criticism. Thats not to say if someone else gets a holding penalty and brings it back on the last most critical play and cost the game wont get hassled, but it probly wont be remembered for as long. Im a Redskins fan and I have seen it TOOO many times. It only takes one person and one play to screw an entire game... And that play will be on youtube with death threats in the comments to help heal the broken hearts...themadscientist wrote:I feel bad for the kid. I don't think there is a position on the field that gets so little respect, but can present such opportunity for catastrophic shame as a kicker. It's essentially you and the ball. Sure, the center might set the ball up wrong or some freak wind gust at just the wrong time, but the fans wont care, YOU f***ed us. A quarterback needs a good receiver and can share some of the blame if a clutch play fails, but a kicker is all alone and this kicker and apparently the SF one too it seems will have that mark for the rest of their lives. No matter what feats they may perform in the future they will always be reminded of the one they missed in their respective playoff games.
I hear they are starting to receive death threats now, nice.
Good parallel. I felt really bad for Buckner. As a lifelong Mets fan, I was thrilled he had that error that day, but I found it appalling Red Sox fans aimed all their hate at this one guy, an all-star player who was a reason why they got the the series in the first place, and made him the scapegoat for what was obviously a team failure. Like the Ravens kicker, he too received death threats. Perhaps a Red Sox fan can explain why they focused on just him?PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:Switching gears:
