when it comes to moving parts and what not, theres a BIG difference... you arent paying for the name only. you are paying for precision.

oh and FYI manual gauges are a million times more reliable and less susceptible to innacuracy.... say you install your electric boost gauge and there a slight resistance in the wiring or a bad ground... it says you are at 5psi so you turn the boost up and pop.... bye bye head gasket you were already at 10psi but the resistance caused the gauge to read wrong.

what if the wiring or fuse on your elec temp gauge fails and you think your car is taking forever to warm up when its actually overheating....
You kidding me? If what you said is right, nobody in the world will run electric anything in the world, because you cannot control it. So all of a sudden, you are telling the rest of the world our cars suck because of the electric sensor it uses to show us our speed, rev, gas level, etc; and the other ones it uses to determine how would it run? Slight resistance? Resistance will show up every time you run a current over any conductor. It does not make a gauge inaccurate. A bad ground? It's a boost gauge, it does not run enough power to make a false reading from a bad ground. It will most likely just turn itself on and off over time, not cost a bad reading.

If your car has electric problem(s), the first thing you have to worry is not your electric boost gauge, its the rest of the system that actually make the car running in the first place.

And you even wrote manual gauges? Its called mechanic gauge. And you know why they start making electric gauges? Because you have a better chance of not having a boost, oil, gas, water, and/or whatever leak (or getting squirt from the hot coolant or oil, as they are in high pressure) form whatever you are trying to monitor. Plus, it is not good to run a long vacuum line in the first place. So actually, electric gauges are better.

If you do not know anything, shut up.

To OP: You get anything from Ebay and trying to do a warranty? It will be hard if it is not DOA. These Ebay companies change their name after certain time of period so they can get out of the warranty issues. And to the company that makes those gauges, they will tell you to go to your retailer/seller to get any replacement, so you will just end up with a broken gauge.

I agree for the most part but there are major online companies like frsport, enjuku, west covina nissan, etc that actually have an ebay store...

Ebay is a place where many people can get a good deal; its also a place where idiots get screwed.

that's why I came here to ask about those gauges. I have seen them on ebay for years but have never heard anything about them. It doesn't matter anyway cause Im buying a new cobalt tomorrow.

and im not gunna get butt hurt.... like i said its your car. do what you want im just stating facts.
You made your point, you don't like them. You only need to say it once and you can keep the rest of your uncalled for negative BS to yourself.

Enough damn whining and arguing FFS. If you have experience with the actual product, give your views. If not, bow out or simply read and stfu.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it sucks. Nor does it mean you have the right to tell others that their opinion sucks. I know this is a open forum, but we need to keep conversations civil.

I have a Greddy boost gauge. My gauge says I run about 12-13psi and the chassis dyno says I'm running about 10 psi. Plus, the bulb burned out and you can't replace just the bulb, you have to send the gauge into Greddy. So tell me, is my Greddy gauge worth the $150 I paid for it? I can tell you I wouldn't buy one again.

BTW- I did do a comparison with an autometer electric boost gauge, it said the same thing as the dyno.

A friend of mine has a Megan Racing mechanical gauge, his is also 2 psi higher than the dyno is (different dyno than I used).

I'll just buy stri from now on.

How is what gearhead said the point you were trying to make? He just posted where electrical gauges were more accurate than mechanical gauges, when you were arguing for the opposite.Just trying to sort that out in MY head...
