If you dont like the sound have it routed into the exhaust.

If you want to be badass route it right behind the front left tire.

most of the people that i've met that have dump pipe from their wastegates usually drive their cars on the weekend and is their second vehicle.I guess it has to do with what your original intention of the car is. There's definitely people out there with daily driveable wastegate dumpt tubes but it might get old. I personally prefer it routed back into the exhaust becaue of the clean sound and i am willing to do this for a sacrifice of 10-15 hp. Now, if my car wasnt a daily driver, I would have a dump pipe for sure.Of course, emissions people and all the tree huggers dont like dump pipes on a street car, but it gives that bada$$ factor if you are going to the track or dynoing for more hp.

How about leaving the dump tube complete off? I left mine off and it does blow the exhaust air against the firewall but everything is fine, and exhaust air isn't hot enough there to burn anything... also I have aluminum heat shielding for added measure...... The engine gets loud, but it is progressive and you can't really tell that the wastegate is opening.

from previous experience of running an open dump im switching for the 240. just to damn loud and nasty sounding. i had a dump tube that would dump infront of my driver side tire and then echo off the road. so when i passed cars with my windows down and hit full boost i would go def. i dont really care if it does give extra power. im just not gonna go through what i did with my previous car.

can you describe what type of noise it makes? it cant be all that bad. after all half the fun of having turbo is the cool noises they make :)

the noise mine made wasnt cool. basically it sounds like youre running open header. well... thats basically what it is just out of a 35 mm tube. so yeah, when youre cruising hearing all the cool sounds turbos cars make its alright. then once you floor it and hit full boost that wastegate opens up and makes you def for the time being while your on it. im not going through that again. you live and learn.

mine dumps out of a pipe pointing sideways behind my left front tire, i personally think it sounds good. no argueing it is loud though. ive had at least a couple comments on how baddass my car sounds when i hit full boost, i have 3" turbo back exhaust, no cats, no resonators, and the open dump tube, it is very loud, but only at full bost, and it sounds pretty burly for a 4cyl. i think its just different peoples preferences, if a 3" catback sounds loud to you, a wastegate dump tube is going to be way too loud.

what about using a motorcycle muffler attached to some pep boys flexible exhaust piping. that seems to me to be an excellent way to plumb it. you can have a 1.5" motorcycle muffler off of ebay for like 50$ shipped. that way it wouldnt be too loud and you would still get the benefits of atmospheric dumping...

yea it should, its made for exhaust, plus it wont be flowing through the dumpipe constantly, only under boost, so it would have time to cool when your not boosting.
