well for the package deal they're only 50 bucks more than the other falken high performace tire. i really want good summer tires because im gonna put some crappy rims on in winter. i would never use brand new rims in winter. and i just figure for about 100 bucks more i can get pretty nice tires instead of just ok ones.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Welcome to NICO fellow youngster! I have the same tires on my setup. Haven't really gotten to drive that much as I too don't have my license and the sil40 really isn't driveable. I doubt they'll do anything past marginal in wet conditions. Don't even consider snow. I don't really have to worry out here. For you, I would consider some all seasons. Do you really need such an aggressive tire? I have mine because they came with the wheels (smokin deal btw )
Anyways, this might help.

Is this from personal experience? A lot of the reviews that I read prior to buying this tire stated that the older version (rt-215) had heat issues, but in the new model (rt-615) it wasn't a problem. Also, what tire pressures were you running? I've heard that this tire is pretty picky with that.hungryjoseph wrote:if you're going to autocross them or race them hard, carry gallons of water with you. after about 4 one minute runs at autox, they start to lose it without much warning, cooling them down will help tremendously.

The Dunlops are really good, I am running them right now...98koukile wrote:You want a good tire for that I recommend the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, a lot of people I know are starting to run these and love them.
thanks guys this really helped. ill get some more mild tires that dont wear as much. i dont plan on racing or drifting until at least im out of highschool. i'm obviously going to mess around street racing and a little practice drifting in parking lots but nothin major. thanks guys!98koukile wrote:15 yrs old buying 615s... I'd stick with 452s. More forgiving with a stock KA, way way better in the wet, 25-50% slower wear.Tires all depend on what you want to do. I drove like a moron when I was 16 and $300 worth of tires lasted 15k tops. The 615s are good for canyon carving or a nice twisty road on a cool day but if its real hot or you're pushing them hard, don't bother. You want a good tire for that I recommend the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, a lot of people I know are starting to run these and love them. Not too expensive... I wish I was able to be spending money on rims and tires at 15, but nonetheless this is what I'd drop my coin on
Ah that makes sense. Yeah I bet the surface you were running on was pretty hot if it was 90 degrees out. I have read people saying that if it is a super hot day with a hot surface you will lose some traction due to overheating. it's gonna be 50-70 degrees or so when I run this weekend so I hope to have better luck.hungryjoseph wrote:yeah this is straight frome xperience. there is a massive difference after the first 2 runs, when they are warmed up, they are very good. but on a 90 degree day and 4 back and back runs, they start to lose it. I don't remember the tire pressures, it was a while ago. I run goodyear eagles now
Just be safe while you're being an idiot, thats all I asks13importuner7 wrote:i'm obviously going to mess around street racing and a little practice drifting in parking lots but nothin major. thanks guys!
