im looking at buying a wheel and tire combo and i'm interested in the Falken Azenis Rt615. it says they wear fast though. my cars going to be my daily driver. im only 15 right now so i won't be doing to much driving even when i get my license. and in winter i wont be using these obviously. just for summer use. let me know what you think if you've had experience with these or have heard anything.

Welcome to NICO fellow youngster! I have the same tires on my setup. Haven't really gotten to drive that much as I too don't have my license and the sil40 really isn't driveable. I doubt they'll do anything past marginal in wet conditions. Don't even consider snow. I don't really have to worry out here. For you, I would consider some all seasons. Do you really need such an aggressive tire? I have mine because they came with the wheels (smokin deal btw )

Anyways, this might help.

Btw, this thread and your other should be in the wheel/tire forum, not 240 gen.

well for the package deal they're only 50 bucks more than the other falken high performace tire. i really want good summer tires because im gonna put some crappy rims on in winter. i would never use brand new rims in winter. and i just figure for about 100 bucks more i can get pretty nice tires instead of just ok ones.

15 yrs old buying 615s... I'd stick with 452s. More forgiving with a stock KA, way way better in the wet, 25-50% slower wear.Tires all depend on what you want to do. I drove like a moron when I was 16 and $300 worth of tires lasted 15k tops. The 615s are good for canyon carving or a nice twisty road on a cool day but if its real hot or you're pushing them hard, don't bother. You want a good tire for that I recommend the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, a lot of people I know are starting to run these and love them. Not too expensive... I wish I was able to be spending money on rims and tires at 15, but nonetheless this is what I'd drop my coin on

i just got some 452's. cant wait to put them on! i would also recommend those, because the RT is a 90% track tire.. meant to drive you from your house to the track, not daily.

GREAT TIRE!

That is like the main tire for autocross out here. A lot of people use them over here and they are great. They wear down EXTREMELY fast though if you use them on your daily driver. But a great tire in Warm/Hot DRY weather.

I would not go with this tire on your DD. To much money for the time they are going to last you. For a DD tire i would go with something all weather.

be safe with whatever you do go with though.

One Love,

Ghasty

i am about to daily these in 245/45/17 on my coupe. wheels and tires are sitting in my garage

that may be after winter tho... cus my fresh-to-death ae86 daily needs some loving first, and by loving, i mean my wheels/tires from my coupe

i have falken ziex 912's on my coupe now, i loved them, but they too, wear fast.

screw it, i realize i burn thru tires on dailies... oh well

Quite the coincidence that this thread popped up. I just had the 615's slapped on my car earlier today.

Front 215/40/17Rear 245/45/17

I have two days at Phoenix International Raceway coming up this weekend... I'll let you all know how they do.

p.s. I plan on filling up with 37 psi cold front and 35 psi cold rear. Anyone have **actual** experience with tire pressures on this tire? Suggestions?

if you're going to autocross them or race them hard, carry gallons of water with you. after about 4 one minute runs at autox, they start to lose it without much warning, cooling them down will help tremendously.

I have 235/40/17 front, 255/40/17 rear and I LOVE THEM.I only put on about 2k miles so far but this is the best setup I have ever experienced for a street car (minus R comps)

These tires grip for days, they do take a little bit to warm them up but they just keep griping. I pulled 1.2 lat g's in them already and I am itching to get on the track and try to hit higher.

Obviously, they suck in rain/snow.

Is this from personal experience? A lot of the reviews that I read prior to buying this tire stated that the older version (rt-215) had heat issues, but in the new model (rt-615) it wasn't a problem. Also, what tire pressures were you running? I've heard that this tire is pretty picky with that.

yeah this is straight frome xperience. there is a massive difference after the first 2 runs, when they are warmed up, they are very good. but on a 90 degree day and 4 back and back runs, they start to lose it. I don't remember the tire pressures, it was a while ago. I run goodyear eagles now

Ah that makes sense. Yeah I bet the surface you were running on was pretty hot if it was 90 degrees out. I have read people saying that if it is a super hot day with a hot surface you will lose some traction due to overheating. it's gonna be 50-70 degrees or so when I run this weekend so I hope to have better luck.

If you are just going to drive on them like a tool, get some harder tires (I have enjoyed my ZE-912s). I loved the 215s and the 615s, but sounds like they are not the best for your needs.
