I had a similar situation. About a week before driving on a trek to the north (FL up to Va) I had the car at the dealer for a complete inspection to make sure all was well. I forgot to ask them to rotate the tires. I took the car to the place where I bought the tires as they rotate for free if you bought the tires there.
The TPMS would not read the pressure on any of the tires. The shop confirmed the sensors were transmitting coz there hand-held receiver was getting the information. They told me it's the car and not the TPMS in the wheels. I had no time to take it to the dealer so I left on the trip and planned to take it to the dealer after I got back.
I checked the TPMS in the car periodically on my trip. It took about 400 miles before the car displayed the pressures. I'ts worked fine ever since.
According to the dealer, the car should have displayed the pressures after a contiuous drive for a few miles. Obviously, this is NOT always the case.
