I LOVED that! Yet another elegant detail lost in '94.CrimsonQ wrote:Also a few months later I realized there were little lights on the under side of the vent switches.:P
what lights under the vent switches??!!Jesda wrote:I LOVED that! Yet another elegant detail lost in '94.
Didn't find that one for about 6 years...nuQ wrote:not sure what years had this,,,but, under my drivers side seat,,,the small air freshner compartment with the small sponge that can be dipped in liquid air freshner!!! very nice touch.
My 92 had it until I replaced the dash with one from a 94. If you remove the upper dashboard, you'll see a connector-plug-thingy thats not attached to anything.chinaonnitrous wrote:what lights under the vent switches??!!
I think he means where are they: they are on the under side of the vent lever that controls the air flow (on or off - in this case circle (O) or filled in white circle).chinaonnitrous wrote:

Actually, they should go ALL the way down.EQwhipD wrote:1. If you hold down the unlock button on keylees remote, the two front windows will come down halfway.-EQwhipD
wtf are you talking about? LOL!!qsiguy wrote:The stock radio has 2 antennas. If you need to test one or the other of the antennas you can turn on the radio with only one of them in use. Hold down the 1 and 3 presets while you turn it on and MA will display on the radio and then the station. It is now only using the main trunk mounted antenna. If you hold down the 4 and 6 presets while turning it on it will then only be using the secondary antenna. Turn the radio off and back on to reset this. Using this will tell you if one of the antennas is bad.
hehe, thought it was a cool techie "hidden" gadget to be found. Something most wouldn't know you could do.CrimsonQ wrote:

hes right!!!!!! The main antenna is the mast, and theres another one on the top of the rear window, it looks like part of the defroster (strategerie?)qsiguy wrote:hehe, thought it was a cool techie "hidden" gadget to be found. Something most wouldn't know you could do.
Bingo! We have a winner!elwesso wrote:hes right!!!!!! The main antenna is the mast, and theres another one on the top of the rear window, it looks like part of the defroster (strategerie?)
It is called a "Diversity" antenna!elwesso wrote:hes right!!!!!! The main antenna is the mast, and theres another one on the top of the rear window, it looks like part of the defroster (strategerie?)
Normally, it is "Local Area Network". In the context of a car, I suspect it is the computer data bus inside the car that all the processors communicate on!Flagship-Q wrote:What does LAN stand for? I've gotta break out the FSM!
Holy cow! You stole it.bullittandy wrote:SO for $4300 I bought a 97 Q45 with NOTHING wrong! Cool!
The 94-96's had both the lighted keyhole and keyless entry, which works out nicely, as it helps you find ther handle in darker situations after unlocking it remotely .BadQ45t wrote:Nope, we have different door handles so lighted key hole. They pretty much do not do that anymore since they went to keyless entry. When was the last time you used the key to open the door? I have 5 years in my Q now and have never done it.
I think Jeff Williams has played with this extensively while trynig to resolve some door lock/window issues. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.qsiguy wrote:Any of you ever played with the LAN self test feature on the Q?
There are several different modes all detailed in the FSM. Basically you turn on the key press the defrost button 10 times and a couple other key presses and key switches. Then LAN system will go into test mode. I used it to test my drivers seat control switches. In mode II I (I think) the key bell will chime each time you press a button on the LAN system to confirm it is working.
In other modes it will flash the dome light to give you trouble codes for the LAN system. I'd go into more detail but that would be a lot to write down. It's all in the FSM if you want to play with it.
There are also a bunch of diagnostic and self testing features for the climate control system, also in the FSM. I wouldn't mess with it unless you read through the FSM first but you get into it by holding down the climate control OFF button for I think 5 secsonds within 10 seconds of turning on the key. It can perform a self test of all the sensors and associated a/c components.
Anyone else know of any more hidden features in the Q? James Bond kindof stuff! I like finding these things.
