im sure it can be bypassed, its just a matter of time... and demand. cos who wants to go thru the trouble of having to learn the perfect downshift RIGHT before you enter a corner, and exiting with speed in the gear that puts you in the sweet spot of the power band.... thats a lot going thru your mind in the middle of an apex. unless your just doing it to save wear and tear on the vehicle.

A friend of mine had one in his goon when he bought it. Almost every time he hit the brakes he hit the gas too. He took it out.

im thinkin a set for the clutch and gas pedals as opposed to gas and brake.

i recently checked out my friends S13, he converted auto to manual, heres some details w/o pics: (sorry if its confusing)1. A/T brake pedal- foot pad is longer in a/t brake pedals, most ppl buy m/t brake pedals and throw away a/t brake pedals. he cut the steel foot pad smaller and over slightly to the right on support bar. it puts the pedal more towards gas pedal. makes for easier heel / toe action.2. used RHD clutch pedal & bracket on LHD setup, moves clutch pedal in towards adjusted brake pedal. the RHD pedal is slightly bent to right to clear trans. tunnel in RHD car.

this all got me thinkin about gettin a a/t brake pedal and cutting it the opposite to suit my sz 13 foot.

wearing the right shoes does help.

Preferrably, something you can feel through your heel. Its easier for me to feel my throttle pedal with a pair of Jack Purcells as opposed to some basketball shoes. I remember one time I tried to heel toe with some snow shoes and my leg got cramped up! I had to pull over to the side, take my shoe off and massage my middle to pinky toes...

has anyone ever tried clutchless shifting? same concept, cept you don't need the clutch, you just need to match your revs.

1. pinky toe cramps kill, and are probably to blame for some of the worst wrecks in auto racing history... although no one dares talk about the subject.2. clutchless shifting works on a motorcycle... well for the up part at least. Ive only clutchless shifted my car on 2 occasions: 1- my clutch pedal bracket broke while shifting, revd it up and dropped it in. 2- my clutch pivot broke, while driving... same thing... neither situation felt good.

its not bad aslong as ur synchros are good... and if u dont mind grinding everyonce in a while. if ur upshifting u just accel to somewhere above 2krpm and pull it out of gear hold it against the next gear and wait for the revs to drop and itll just drop into gear... u shouldnt force it but be ready for when the gear opens up cuz u only have a split second to get it into gear or itll grind. downshifting is the same concept just that u have to gas it to match and get it into gear. forcing it is a bad bad idea.

driving around a while back i was coming up to a left turn at a green light and while left foot braking, i revmatched it perfect and got it into second and pulled right through the turn... it went so good that the girl didnt even notice/complain asking me wtf i was doing lol... smoothness. havent even tried to do that since. it may sound like i was going balls out but i wasnt... just reg jersey speeds, from about 45 into the turn to 25-30 through the turn, not even close to wot.

WTF are you crying for? I'm on your guys side... I heel and toe all the time to save wear and tear on my drivetrain, and dont even have to think about it.

i guess ilvemynissan didnt catch the sarcasm?

BTW, theres a button on the new 370z to turn off the synchroRev,

Shoes definatly help. I use the 50/50? method with adidas that are fairly wide.

Sometimes I dont use the clutch. It gets a little stiff trying to upshift, If you can hit it right on downshifting its a thing of beauty.

Hmmm... probably not the best idea if you want to keep your transmission running reliably. During heavy braking, this will also upset the rear end in comparison to a smooth heel-toe downshift.

I definitely agree that the right shoes help.

If you rev-match the downshifts its a fairly smooth transition. Last time I changed my trans fluid I had a couple of pieces of synchro on the magnet.
