SO you think if I went back to 18's I would solve the problem easier?RED_DET wrote:275's all day and night. Tried out a 7mm spacer tonight and they still fit without any issues. With the spacer the wheel offset is equivalent to 38mm on a 18x9.5" wheel. The key is negative camber. Running -1.8 degrees in the rear. Once I get the rear brembo's on I will post up some more pics.
Pic of wheels with no spacer and about -1.0 degree of camber. Wheel offset is 45mm.
While they may look cool the extra weight may translate into reduced stopping power as well.Poyzinous wrote:why do you need such wide tires. Even with an extra 100hp, I would use a 265/40R18 as thats the same diameter as stock tires. Plus I dont want to add 40lbs of unsprung weight. If and when I get rims for my car, I plan to get 18's and run 235/45R18 all around. Diameter needs to be between 26.3 and 26.6. for a 275 width you'd need a 35 profile.
I didn't need a 35 profile. Do you really think going from a 245 to a 275 makes a tire weigh 10-20# more? I don't but I have never weighed them so I could be wrong.Poyzinous wrote:why do you need such wide tires. Even with an extra 100hp, I would use a 265/40R18 as thats the same diameter as stock tires. What air pressure do you run?Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I have to disagree with you on that...
I ran 245's on a 7 inch rim and it looked sweet.
I like the tire to be wider than the rims... Plus if my mom drives my car and hits a curb she wont mess up my rim the car will just go over it!

To me it looks like you should have 7.5" - 8.5" rims for that size of tire. I was curious if you were running lower air pressure to stop wear in the center.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:When i had the 17's on my lexus i would run 37-43 psi...

My SVT Cobra only had 305 HP and a 3.27 gear. WIth 245's it would get sideways in 2nd gear.Poyzinous wrote:why do you need such wide tires. My information states that the recommended size for the 245 and 255 is 8.5 whereas for the 265 and 275 it is 10.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:to run 275 or 265 on my sedan i will have 8.5 on the rear..
Having the correct width rim based on tire design is not lame since it may well involve a safety factor as well. If it was purely a statement about looks then it becomes only a personally opinion that maybe others share.poms302 wrote:Adren77- Its your opinion, not fact.
