245 wide is 9.65 inches

275 wide is 10.83 inches
That may well be true as far as measurement of the tire, but you are also going to a lower profile at the same time.

Since I don't have a chart for a 245 40 19 for the Infiniti, I am using another car that does list that size which is a Jag XK 07-09. On that car the recommended size is a 8.5 inch rim. It also list a 10 inch rim for the 275 30 19 which is also recommend for the Dodge Viper as well as the Infiniti.

Again these are recommendations for generic tire designs.

I found this calculator:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireS...ubmit

There is suppose to be some magic number for minimum and maximum rim width for a specific tire size but I have not found a chart for it.

For 275/30/19 the minimum is 9.5 and the maximum is 11

For 245/40/19 the minimum is 8.0 and the maximum is 9.5

I did run into a statement that some manufacturers do supply as stock rims that are outside the normal recommended sizes but do so with the approval of the tire manufacturer.

But many G owners run 275's on their stock 19's

Perry, What is it that you are trying to tell me? Is it unsafe to run that tire size or something

It may not be as safe as it should be. At 9" they are just 1/2" narrow not 1" for a 275/30/19 running on an 8.5".

I was more concerned about the statement of running 245s on 7 inch rims.

Unless you under inflate them you will have a reduced contact patch since the cross sectional circumference is based on the belts which will not change in length. Many will then under inflate them to avoid wear in the now narrower contact patch (the center of the tread). While this seems to work it exposes you to other hazards such as overheating and the tripping problems that goes with it.

The other issue is if you pull the tire in for a narrow rim you may not have proper positioning of the bead.

regardless, 275's on 19" coupe wheels are not going to fit on the sedan. Hell alot of people have rubbing issues with 245's. What you think is going to happen with a 30mm wider tire?

Yea I am gong to purchase 265 30 19's....

If they don't fit after I roll the fender then I will return them and buy 255 or 245's....

On the front should I run 235's or 245's?

One option that I don't know if I would try on a 'G' that I have seen work well on others is to radius your wheel wells. I would never do this on my own but I have seen the results when professionally done and it works well. I have rolled my fenders on my 67 Cougar and it worked well on that car but then it of course didn't have many of the issues with electronics like the new ones.

Personally I wouldn't even consider it without going the tubbing route. Too many go with wide tires in configurations that end up resembling go karts.

I will just be adding 255 35 19's the 265 30 19 will not be tall enough...

I will still be rolling the fenders and that way I will be covered and I won't have to mess with the camber...

Probably a good choice over the 275s. I tend to go for go over show and to me when people know what go looks like that is the show. In our area go is not straight line by any means unless you are on the drag strip which are few, it is all about how well does the critter handle on twisting undulating roads.

I recently got an article that is basically a compilation of America's best driving roads (based on the fun factor of driving). One is not too far from me and I intend to give the 'G' a good test there (safely of course).
