^ I hate the word 'whatnot' so much. But, the map was pretty tight. I like some European groups too. Ive heard a few songs from Lacuna Coil and I liked it and I also like Mudvayne too.

What album did you pick up? That song (Cry of the Blackbirds), is from With Oden On Our Side, which is a killer AA album, imo.
Yeah thats exactly it. I cant remember what other song I liked though. Ehh, it all had the same meaning to me

Check it out. It's pretty neat and a good way to discover new bands and whatnot.
Yeah, seen that before, it's pretty tight.

See, the thing with Amon Amarth is, you know what you're getting, it's a 'you like it or you don't' thing to me. Me, I love them. Twilight of the Thunder God & Surtur Rising You might like a bit more because of the more straight up no-f***-around formula with higher production than their previous albums.

Come to think of it (back on Queensryche, here), I saw them with my dad when I was about 11ish, I didn't really appreciate who they were at the time. I wish I would have because they f***' rule, and I'm pretty sure they were playing mainly Operation Mindcrime stuff during that show.

My brother introduced me to these guys a few months, went out and picked up their album "Akeldama" which is fantastic.

I've been listening to metal less and less nowadays. Been listening to Post-Rock bands such as Tristeza and Explosions in the Sky.

My friend told me about this band last night and I have been listening to their s*** like crazy. This song is awesome.

The band is a side project of As I Lay Dying's vocalist, Tim Lambesis. Every song title is an Arnold Schwarzenegger quote and it's awesome. Give them a listen.

TylerNine wrote:As I stated in my intro thread, music's a pretty big part of me, mainly metal. Lately I've been into stuff like death, doom, and black. I listen to anything from NWOBHM to Black, to Folk Metal though. Some recent metal bands I've been listening to are:

Katatonia
Vreid
Facebreaker
Neuraxis
Megadeth
A mix of generic metalcore bands, just because.
Man Must Die
Paul Wardingham
What Mad Universe

I'd like to state now that, I DO NOT like bands that people consider metal such as 'KoRn', Disturbed, anything beyond Slipknot's 2nd full-length. All of those types of bands just do nothing & are boring to no end for me.

I love to discuss, recommend and likewise, receive recommendations as well, so, uh, yeah. Metal Thread established. (unless there was already one, and I missed it on my search)
Megadeth is my favorite band. Period.

Although I do enjoy:

Psychostick
Dimmu Borgir
Apocalyptica
Lamb of God
Killswitch Engage
3 Inches of Blood
Arch Enemy

And tons and tons of other bands that I'm too lazy to list. I also enjoy electronic, old school as f*** rap, some new school rap, and ambient.

Norma Jean
The Acacia Strain
Dillinger Escape Plan
PIRATE METAL : Alestorm and Swashbuckel
I don't know how I missed this post until now, but I had never heard of "pirate metal" and I have to say, Alestorm is pretty f*** awesome. If you like them, you might also like Korpiklaani. They're like a... I guess Celtic Metal? Here.

Also, if you want to talk hardcore, I can talk hardcore all day long. Hardcore fav's include:
Floorpunch
Casey Jones
Old Evergreen Terrace (well, their newest one was decent)
Terror
Bane
Down to Nothing
Madball
Mental
Kids Like Us (probably my fav. h/c band)
Old school like Youth of Today, In My Eyes, Minor Threat

Sorry to double post and then take up a lot of space... I like music...

Koorpiklaani f*** RULES. To add to of his recommendation of that awesome band, I'd add these for that style of folk/viking metal (You'll find more bands under those tags, Pirate Metal is kind of a few(er)-band ring, Ex: Swashbuckle & Alestorm).

Anyways, to add:

Equilibrium, Folkearth, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Waylander, Borknagar, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Thyrfing.

'Tis okay in this thread, man. Double post away!

I don't know much about Hardcore. However I do enjoy some Casey Jones & Terror off of your list. Other ones I listen to here & there include Defeater, Western Addiction (probably more punk, but w/e), Modern Life is War, Blacklisted, Black Breath, Have Heart, Most Precious Blood.

Amen to that, brother.

OoOoOo, I dig me some Explosions, pretty solid band for what they do. I checked out the song 'Golden Hill' by Tristeza, pretty sweet sound dude, thanks for the heads up!

I don't wanna sound like i'm trying to be a know it all about this stuff with all of the recs, but if you like stuff like this you should check out Pelican, EF, 65daysofstatic, God is an Astronaut, Red Sparrowes, Mogwai, Mum, This Will Destroy You, and I would say Animal Collective, but I've honestly always thought they were worthless, but yeah, Animal Collective, if you wish. =P

Most all good bands there. I have gotten to see Casey Jones live many times. Have Heart played a great show here a few years back with The Chariot. I want to check out all of those Viking Metal bands. They make me happy.

Jamming to some Opeth today (went about a month and a half not listening to anything from them so I can have fresh ears for their concert coming up soon)

I'm not the world's biggest Trivium fan, I'm not really a fan at all for that matter. Their new album, however, is a pretty decent piece of work.

This song is super catchy and enjoyable.
