Was able to more closely inspect everything this morning. I've gotta say that I am very impressed with the build quality. All the piping, bends, welds, flanges, hangers, etc. look top notch. The washers that I previously mentioned the install tech used as spacers for the aft-most hangers are tiny and might not actually be necessary. Due to the routing of the piping, I am no longer able to use the pumpkin as a jack point for the rear. That's unfortunate but not at all a deal-breaker.

Not sure if the 5.6L guys need this measurement but the distance from one cat flange to the other (center of pipe to center of pipe) is 25".

Before anyone asks, these pics were taken using a mirror so some things may appear to be on the opposite side of the vehicle.

Will record sounds clips this weekend.

That actually does look very nice. I'm fond of the burnt tips, but get that they're not for everyone. At $2K MSRP, that puts it in line with the rest of their other catbacks.

Looking forward to sound clips. I would imagine it would be similar to the G37.

The only thing that can save this exhaust in my eyes is if it sounds absolutely stunning...that might make it worth a few hundred more to me.

That looks amazing!

You guys are forgetting a very good feature this exhaust brings over anything that is currently out there for our Y51's and that is, that this is a TRUE DUAL exhaust. If you are all eager to find out how it sounds check the video below.

Here is what you can expect. Stock cats.

On this one you have to keep in mind that the car had High floe cats, which will increase the sound quite a bit.

I personally have heard the exhaust in person (on a G37) and I love the sound, no rasp but a very throaty sound and no drone.

Makes me want to sell the Blitz that I just got. Pricing will tell.

OK, now I feel a little better. I assumed it was the same as the rest.

Side note...I have HFC's and Stillen intake going on this week (coil overs too). Anyone have headers? Usually the most restrictive part of the exhaust. Not sure about the VQ37 but I know the QR25 gained a bunch at the wheel by going aftermarket; more than intake, cat, and catback combined.

Does a 'true' dual exhaust flow THAT much better?

Also, on the G37, it sounds a lot like the MXP SP exhaust I had on my 07 M35x.

My apologies that the sound quality of these clips is not very good. The exhaust is now available for sale http://www.arkperformance.com/ARK-GRiP- ... -0211g.htm and promotional pricing is $1,699.15.

That sounds pretty damn good. Without the burnt tips and now having heard it...hmmm...if the price stays around $1,600 or if some one sells them en masse for $1,500...I may consider it when it's time to swap mine out.

You need to post a pics of your car...from the limited angles I've seen, it looks great.

The sound clips don't do it justice. Very pleased with the bold, deep tone. Minimal drone at highway speeds. The only negative is the lofty price point.

Thanks for fixing the youtube embedding Ilya. I couldn't figure it out.

Probably pretty considerable as the V8 is pretty loud at WOT with a stock exhaust lol.

Absolutely, a true dual exhaust will allow exhaust gases escape the engine with less back pressure and turbulence, which translates to gains in torque and HP.

Makes no sense at all...there's probably fewer hybrid owners than there are V8 owners

Agreed. Plus for anyone who drives a hybrid the last thing in their mind is getting a louder exhaust. They have a hybrid for a reason :wtf2:

Also doesn't the 5.6 have the cats welded to the OEM Y pipe?

I saw a picture a while back where it showed the cats welded to the OEM Y pipe. If that is the case, I can see why ARK would opt not to try and mess with the 5.6. Then again, you can always buy the system from the Y pipe back, as the mid pipe and axle back remains the same on all Y51's.

Maybe they already have access to a 5.6L. That may be why they do not need to find one.

Not intrusive at all. I do a lot of driving in traffic and the low tone of the exhaust can get to be somewhat annoying when you are creeping from light to light in first gear.

I've seen the same in pics.

One thing I noticed last night is that the ARK hangs lower than the stock exhaust. I don't have a point-of-comparison now that the ARK is installed but I am guessing it is a couple of inches lower, maybe a bit more. I heard something bump yesterday when navigating over some speed bumps. I'll have check later to see if it scraped the midpipe.

I know Stillen makes a catback for the V8. Maybe someone with a Stillen with their V8 can chime in?

The person I've been in contact with at Ark has been more than helpful. He just said that management decided to pass on the V8 because they feel its too small of a market. But then they talked about looking for the Hybrid. My head just exploded at that point. LOL

I thought catback meant it's everything AFTER the cats which is why no one has an issue with the Stillen setup? A 'full exhaust' would include the cats.

Spoke to a couple of guys with the M56 that had exhaust work done and they confirmed that the Y pipe is welded to the cat. . You can see the stock exhaust system as well as the Stillen system in the video:

Yep talk about confusing. Well now you have an excuse to run test pipes...if those ever get developed. LOL

I don't want or need a full exhaust. I'm fine with whatever Stillen sells. Had a full exhaust on my 99 Maxima. Way too loud inside.

I'm not very sure why but the very first thing I thought of when I read this was from an actual story from 15 years ago where a kid argued that down shifting is cheating. He got waxed by a Mustang in his Sentra and complained about it on the forum. That was a good couple of weeks worth of entertainment.

I guess because neither makes sense is why it reminded me.
